We caught up with the brilliant and insightful April Delucca a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi April, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
For the last 7 years these key points have been the blueprint for my success as a real estate professional:
Being consistent in my actions with constant communication has created trust and reliability. People know what to expect from me, which has strengthened my reputation and helped build lasting relationships. Success rarely happens overnight—it’s the result of dedication, learning from setbacks, and continuously improving. I am committed to my “craft” and committed to my clients. I also believe integrity is everything. Being honest not only builds trust with my clients and colleagues but has also differentiated me in a world where cutting corners might seem easier/ is common. My transparency has created loyalty and ensures that my relationships are built on a solid foundation. I truly care for my clients- and that goes beyond the transaction. I am creating a meaningful experience whether I am working with buyers or sellers. When clients feel valued and understood, they’re more likely to remain loyal and refer others. Showing empathy, listening to their needs, and putting their best interests first has always been “my way” of doing things.

April, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been serving all of NJ since I discovered my true passion in Real Estate 7 years ago and I haven’t looked back since! I accidentally fell into this career and since then I have had the pleasure of helping so many dreams come true and that is the true core of my business- my clients. The friendships and relationships I have built over the last 7 years with my clients was unexpected when I first became a Real Estate Agent. However, it has been the highlight of my career and my motivation. There is so much more to Real Estate than just selling houses. The process can be stressful and at times emotional. We laugh, we cry, and we hold hands throughout the entire process. Whether I’m handing over keys to first time home buyers or locking the door behind a seller as they move onto their next chapter- they have trusted me with what is likely their biggest investment and I’m forever grateful and cherish the opportunity. I attribute my success to my professionalism, dedication to detail, and the ability to truly listen and understand my clients’ needs. I am passionate about educating first time home buyers in the financial benefits of homeownership and creating wealth through the investment of Real Estate. A born and raised Jersey Girl- I grew up in Monmouth County and now reside in Union County, so whether you are buying or selling a home from Ocean County to Passaic County (and everywhere in between!) Look no further….I am your girl.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my brand on social media by staying true to myself and giving my audience an authentic glimpse into my life as a real estate agent. Initially, I focused on “a day in the life” content, but over time, I began sharing more personal aspects of who I am—beyond just April, the real estate agent. I opened up about being a daughter, a wife, and, most importantly, a mother, which I consider my greatest accomplishment.
That shift—showing my true self and what matters most to me—was when my brand really started to thrive. It allowed me to connect with people on a deeper level, beyond just business. Social media has become an incredible tool for building relationships. When clients reach out to work with me, they often feel like they already know me. They’ve seen my life, my values, and my personality, which instantly breaks the ice. It’s not just about doing business—it’s about creating genuine connections and making clients feel like they’re working with a friend.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the pandemic, I had to completely pivot the way I worked as a real estate agent. Instead of meeting clients in person or touring homes together, I adapted to a virtual world. Buyer consultations moved to Zoom, and showings became virtual walkthroughs. It was a challenge, but it also taught me how to connect with clients in new and creative ways. Adapting to change is part of the job, and I’m grateful for the technology that allowed me to keep serving my clients and helping them find their dream homes—no matter the circumstances!
