We were lucky to catch up with April Clark recently and have shared our conversation below.
April, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
I think most actors agree that the nicest thing someone can do for you at the start of your career is take a chance. This industry is full of so many “no’s” and getting that first “yes” feels so so so good.
My very first professional “yes” came from Stella Nova Casting for a Lifetime tv movie called “Deadly Cheers”.
I came to them with a couple of student film credits, nothing else. Most people would’ve wanted someone with experience and not even given me the opportunity to audition. But instead they gave that “yes”, and I am so grateful.
Booking that job really solidified my interest in acting as a career. If it wasn’t for their willingness to take a chance on me and cast me in that project, I probably would not still be acting now. and I am forever thankful to them.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started acting in 2021. Prior to that I had absolutely no experience in the film industry. I had always liked movies but something happened that year where I really fell in love with them.
In my few years of work I have been so lucky to work, meet so many new people, and learn more about film than I even knew there was to know. I love to immerse myself into projects and get to know every element of my character and the world they live in. I think it’s a leftover symptom of being a child who loved to read. Getting to live in these fantastical worlds for a period of time is truly a magical experience.
Friday March 15th a project called “Snack Shack” is being released to theaters and I am very excited to have had a part in that. I spent a very fun few days on set with that cast and crew and I think that people are really going to love it. The director, Adam Rehmeier, based the story off of his childhood in Nebraska City and it is such a blast.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly I would just love to keep doing this forever. Acting and film in general are so much fun to me. I never really feel like I’m working and isn’t that the dream?

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Go see movies in theaters!!! Rent them online!!! Buy DVDs!!! If there is a film that you love and you can afford it please consider purchasing it. In the streaming age things are so confusing for filmmakers and consumers alike. You never know where to find your favorite films and the creators never know where they’re going to end up. I think that it’s really important to support traditional methods of viewing in this time and hope that we can keep them around.
