We recently connected with April A. Hibler and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, April A. thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
A major chunk of my life was spent in the world of Education, 18 years to be exact! I served in various capacities from classroom teacher (PreK-12th grade), Career and Technology Instructional Coordinator, Student Services Coordinator, Librarian and Professional School Counselor to name a few. My absolute favorite thing about navigating that space was creating events, programs, and meaningful activities for students, families and the community to connect. As a true creative these types of opportunities give my life purpose and great insight into how important it is to pour positively into others. This is what makes the greater world a much better place for us all to thrive in! I ventured into Education because of my beloved late mother. She was also quite the creative and events were her passion and specialty. Having such a beautiful firsthand perspective of the power of tapping into one’s gifts to bless others inspired me to take a full-time leap into another direction. This was the catalyst for me to shift gears so to speak. That’s how my event curating company, The Kulture of Bliss was born in 2022. It had long been just an idea/concept since around 2010. Education has taken many twists and turns over the years and the direction in which it’s going in is not aligned with my soul. I had to make a decision to live boldly in my purpose and take the leap. My first event was a Holiday Soireé @ the Stax Museum of Soul in my hometown of Memphis, TN. The planning and implementation went on for 7 months in order to ensure our December 10th date was a success. Well, life has a funny way of unfolding! The last week of November my mother was placed on Hospice Care. I didn’t really see that coming, but I always roll with the punches. That rainy night in December 2022 rolled around and the event was very nice. The rain kept many people away who had RSVP’d, but overall I learned quite a bit and I was happy with the fact I was well on my way to seeing my dreams come alive! Two days later (December 12th), my mother took her last breath. As I was ushering in a new era in my life, I was also navigating through one of my first loves transitioning from my life. That moment will stick with me forever and it will cement for me that even in the face of the unknown you must trust the process and timing of every facet of this journey we call life!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
It is my belief that exposure changes our lives: be it culture, history, networking, or partnerships & in my former life as an educator I understood the power of being personable, intentional, and creative while making lasting connections…this inspired me to pivot from that world of work and into a different direction!
Life goes so fast, our everyday hustle & bustle deserves refined moments of celebration.
Pandemic caused disconnect but brought clarity & the art of reconnecting is ready to take center stage.
The intersection of hometown charm + Global reach this is the foundation of The Kulture of Bliss : crafting & curating unique bespoke event experiences is what we do! So whether it’s a milestone birthday bash of epic proportions or wedding day bliss atop our Chickasaw Bluffs @ sunset…we’ve got you covered!
There’s an art to creating communities that are strong, vibrant and welcoming. I believe that Memphis is a great place and by doing my part to help strengthen it and remind others how beautiful our city is the possibilities are endless!

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I check in with my clients 3 times a year and I also invite them to an appreciation session where we eat, fellowship and bounce ideas off each other to improve our future events and make sure they know how much they are valued and respected as both clients and partners!
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One person I truly admire is Rick Rubin, record executive/producer and co-founder of Def Jam Records. He’s a pretty zen guy that looks at life panoramically all while keeping things simple yet powerfully profound. His book, “The Creative Act: A Way of Being” is one of my staple reads! You can’t just sit around and expect life to happen for you without taking action. When you’re a creative you must constantly work on the intricacies of those gifts DAILY! When I do that I’m more fulfilled and I know I’m walking in my purpose. This book helps me keep that in perspective!
