We recently connected with Aprel Hudson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aprel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Two years ago, I was an over-the-road driver for UPS. Day and night, I was hauling freight, moving packages, living life on the Highways. And while the paycheck was steady, my soul was tired. I missed my children. I missed being present in their lives. And more than anything, I knew deep down that God had called me to something greater.
I prayed for God to get me off the road. But before He did, I asked Him something deeper. “Lord, show me my purpose.”
For two years , everywhere I looked I kept seeing the number 1111. On clocks, receipts, signs— it was always there. At first I thought it was a coincidence. But over time, I realized it was God reminding me to pay attention — that my prayers were heard and that something was coming.
But after two years of waiting, I grew weary. I thought maybe it was all in my head. Until one day, scrolling online, I saw a post from a supplier about owning your own beauty supply store. The moment I saw it, something inside me shifted. I knew instantly— this is what I supposed to do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am a Author of my very first e-book: Black Ownership in Beauty and the owner and Founder of Sincere Beauty Supply located in Olive Branch MS. At Sincere Beauty Supply we sell Hair Extensions, Hair Products, makeup, and perfumes. We are knowledgeable of products, while also addressing poor customers experience in other non black beauty supply stores. At Sincere Beauty Supply we you enter the store you are greeted with a warm smile. We have you best interest in mind by offering no toxic products that can be a potential harm to health. I am most proud of the relationship I have with my community, We are not just a Retail store but a safe haven where you can relax and shop in peace.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first opened Sincere Beauty Supply, I was still in process of securing Vendors. In a Beauty Supply Store you must have variety. I had reached out to a vendor but they denied me. I was crushed. I started researching online to find a third party supplier but the prices were too expensive. I found a FB group for black owned beauty supply store owners, and I was able to team up with another store that actually had the account I couldn’t get. Now we are able to offer those products.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I was a Over-the-road truck driver for 5 years. I was able to save money. So when I enter my industry I had a decent amount to start the business.
