We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aodaoin Hathaway. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aodaoin below.
Hi Aodaoin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
My practice has evolved so much over the years. I’ve been working professionally with energy in some form or another for over twenty years now. I went from working part-time in person to full-time remotely and every step in between. I have done a huge amount of training in different modalities and put in a lot of time, energy and commitment to my own spiritual practice. I also had to learn a lot about different technologies, especially creating websites, which was not something I’d ever intended knowing anything about; as well as learning on-the-go all the other aspects of running a business, which goes far beyond the energy work.
I began with a lot of naivety about the spiritual/wellness community and about how to work with people. I had no idea how to work with social media, or even that I should have an accountant. I just set things up on the fly and learned through a lot of failures. One thing I would have liked to know then was that everyone fails. Every person you see with an established practice has failed somewhere along the way, probably lots of times. So, accepting that as part of the journey is really helpful, because it can re-frame “failure” as “learning what works.” That took me some time to learn. If I was starting over, I’d start by hiring a really good coach to help me to get clear on what I’d like to offer and how best to structure my online business, an accountant, and an ethical marketing expert. And ideally a website designer! Getting that kind of support early on would have been wonderful, because I spent a lot of time floundering around, getting overwhelmed with the business aspects, and listening to people who really weren’t interested in supporting me but rather in duplicating their own business models.
And so here’s my advice for anyone starting out, that I wish someone had sat me down and been straight with me about:
• You’re running a business, not a hobby. Treat it like that and get an accountant early on. Keep track of your inflow and outflow and don’t be lured into handing over more than you can afford for “training” or “investing in yourself” opportunities. Yes, you can stretch a bit, but don’t burden yourself with mountains of debt when you’re just starting out. I’ve seen this happen to too many people and it is heartbreaking.
• Don’t expect to be an overnight success. It takes time to build a community, but it’s worth it. And if you need to work part-time or fulltime at something else while your business gets established, do that. There’s no shame in that. You’re not letting yourself down, or not taking the risk, or whatever else might be put out there in the coaching/wellness world to sell you an overpriced business-training course.
• You will not succeed if you consistently push yourself beyond your limits into burnout, so learn the difference between stretching out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself into overwhelm. And this might be a learn-by-doing lesson, so if it happens, take a pause to breathe and re-align yourself.
• You are not in a race with anyone. Your people will respond to you. If they’re not responding yet, look at your business structure and see what needs to shift. If you don’t know what needs to shift, find an ethical expert to support you.
• You can’t be an expert in everything, and you’re not meant to be, so you do not need to set impossible standards for yourself. You will fail, and that is ok. That is where some of the growth comes in.
• You are not responsible for your client’s healing. You are responsible for showing up as the clearest, most in-integrity version of yourself for every single session, so take care of yourself so that you can do that.
• Your practice will evolve as you do. It will not stay static. It is not a failure to allow that evolution, to say “This isn’t working for me any more,” or “I’m not going to offer that particular aspect going forwards.” You will lose people along the way as this happens, and this too is all as it is meant to be, because they are moving on to find something that is right for them, and you’re making space for new people.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Aodaoin — a sacred disrupter, healer and teacher, and the founder of the Divine Dragon Energy Healing™ modality. My work is rooted in the sacred, the unseen, and the elemental — and my service is guiding people back into their own innate rhythm, power, and soul-clarity.
For the past twenty-plus years, I’ve walked with the Dragons and the Divine Feminine — as energetic allies, cosmic teachers, and frequency weavers. My path has never been one of linear training or strategic planning — it has unfolded through lived experience, spiritual awakening, deep remembering, and an unwavering trust in the wisdom of my own field supported by my Divine allies.
What I offer now is more than “healing” or “coaching” — it’s a sacred field of frequency transmission and energetic recalibration. I hold spaces for people to come back into resonance with who they truly are — especially when they’ve hit a point where the old ways no longer fit but the next chapter hasn’t fully landed yet.
My Offerings Include:
• Divine Dragon Energy Healing™ system – A unique, internationally accredited high-frequency energy-healing modality that incorporates practical, day-to-day tools designed to be used by everyone, not just professional healers
• Dragon Temple – A monthly energetic transmission with the Dragons and ongoing space of elemental guidance and support
• Re-Ignite – A 2-hour 1:1 energetic reset designed to help people shed what’s no longer theirs and return to their core clarity, rhythm, and inner momentum
• Spiral Mentorship – Deep soul mentoring over 3–6 months for those walking a sacred path of leadership, visibility, and creative remembrance
• Evergreen courses and replays – Including elemental Dragon wisdom, energetic foundations, and more
I don’t solve problems in the traditional sense — instead, I help you remember that you were never broken to begin with.
Many of my clients come to me when they’re in a threshold space — perhaps feeling overextended, uncertain, disconnected from their magic, or exhausted by trying to do things “right.” Together, we tune back into their rhythm, melt the static, and let their next cycle of soul-led expansion emerge from within. It’s deeply intuitive, fiercely compassionate, and energetically precise.
What sets me apart is the field itself — it’s not something I perform or teach. It’s something I transmit. My clients don’t just receive guidance; they recalibrate just by being in the space. I work Dragon-to-Dragon, frequency-to-frequency, Divine Feminine wisdom embodied.
What I’m most proud of is the integrity with which I hold space. I don’t overbook or overextend. I don’t offer what I can’t fully embody. Every container is crafted to be potent, nourishing, and aligned with my own energetic cycles — which allows the community I serve to come into deeper alignment with theirs.
If someone is new to my work, what I’d most want them to know is this:
You are not lost. You are simply becoming.
You don’t need to work harder. You need to return to the frequency that already holds your next becoming.
I don’t just offer sessions. I hold the field that helps you remember.
You don’t need to be ready. You just need to feel the pull.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Giving my power away or projecting power outside of myself, that has been an important lesson for me in this incarnation. When I began training in this area I was inclined to put my teachers on a pedestal and not question their authority. It’s interesting because in every other area of my life, I constantly questioned authority, but I felt that spiritual people must be right about what they were seeing or saying. Of course, that’s not true. Even the most spiritually evolved person is still a person, is living a messily incarnated life, and can make mistakes.
And so, I had to navigate a few situations where this lesson needed to be clarified, and I could come back into my own power. However, I feel that this has given me insight into how easily we can hand our power away, and how important it is to come back to ourselves before we can truly move into our fully embodied expression in this world.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Yes, whole-heartedly yes. I love my work, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. There are days where the business aspects get me down, because they are not where I want my focus to be, but are a necessary part of having a business. But the actual true work of connecting with people and holding a space so they get to find their own wisdom and power and magic—that is a huge part of what I was born to be.
I was going to say that I would have started fulltime sooner, but as I reflect on it, everything has unfolded with such grace, so I don’t feel like I’d change much. There have been extremely challenging times, but that’s life here. It’s not meant to be this smooth, blissful ride, I’m sure there are other dimensions where we go for that! This place is about the drama, but it’s also about finding the peace in the midst of the drama. And I have been blessed to know that peace, and that support, in so many different ways and different times.
