We recently connected with Anything Goez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Anything, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for *Anything Goez* came from something really organic. It all started with sitting around with friends, just having real, raw conversations about anything and everything—life, culture, personal experiences. These talks would be so engaging, filled with laughter, debate, and reflection. Over time, I started thinking: why not record these conversations? They were so genuine, and we were covering topics that people could relate to on a personal level. It felt like we were having the kinds of discussions that people are often afraid to have in public but would resonate deeply with a wider audience.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that what we had was something special. It wasn’t just about talking for the sake of it—it was about capturing those authentic moments that felt raw and unfiltered. That’s where the name *Anything Goez* came from; no topic was off-limits, no idea too wild. I knew this approach would work because so many podcasts stick to a formula, but we were breaking that mold by letting things flow naturally, just like a real conversation between friends.
What excited me the most was that there wasn’t anything forced about it. We weren’t trying to push an agenda or fit into a niche. The vibe was that of inclusion—real people, real talk, anything goes. I felt like there was a space for this in the podcasting world because it was solving a problem: so much content out there feels curated or rehearsed, and we were offering the opposite—unfiltered authenticity. It felt right because it was an extension of who we were already, and I knew if it resonated with us, it would resonate with others too.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re the team behind *Anything Goez*, a brand that started with a podcast and has grown into something bigger, offering both creative content and apparel. Our journey into this space began from a place of authenticity. We were having real, unfiltered conversations with each other, discussing life, culture, and everything in between, and it hit us—why not share these discussions with a broader audience? That’s how the podcast was born, capturing the natural flow of those conversations and delivering it raw, with no topic off-limits.
From the podcast, the brand expanded into apparel. We wanted to create clothing that reflects the spirit of *Anything Goez*—comfortable, unapologetic, and true to who you are. Our line is all about freedom of expression and embracing individuality. Whether it’s our hoodies or tees, every piece represents the idea that “anything goes” when it comes to personal style and self-expression.
At the heart of *Anything Goez* is a commitment to being real. We solve a problem for our listeners and customers by providing content and products that aren’t trying to fit into any preset mold. Our podcast dives into tough, meaningful conversations while staying lighthearted when it needs to, and our apparel is all about wearing your truth with pride.
What sets us apart is that everything we do comes from a place of genuine connection. Whether it’s the conversations we share or the clothing we create, it’s all driven by the same desire to be authentic. We’re proud of how far *Anything Goez* has come, and we’re even prouder of the community we’ve built around it.
For those who are new to *Anything Goez*, we want you to know that this is more than just a podcast or a clothing line. It’s a space where people can feel comfortable being themselves, where real talk is encouraged, and where the vibe is all about embracing life with an open mind. Whether you’re tuning in or wearing our gear, you’re part of something that celebrates individuality and authenticity.
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
When it came to funding *Anything Goez*, we knew we had to be resourceful from the start. The initial idea didn’t require a massive budget, but we still needed enough to cover the basics—equipment for the podcast, some initial designs for the apparel, and setting up the platforms to get everything running smoothly.
At first, we pooled together our own personal savings to get things off the ground. It wasn’t a huge amount, but it was enough to purchase a good quality microphone, some basic recording gear, and the software needed to produce the podcast. We also took a DIY approach to many aspects of the business. Instead of outsourcing everything, we learned how to edit audio, create our own social media content, and design the first few pieces of apparel ourselves. This helped us stretch every dollar and stay within our initial budget.
As we started seeing traction with the podcast, we reinvested any income we made back into the business. Whether it was upgrading our recording equipment or investing in better materials for the clothing line, we were careful to keep things sustainable. We also explored different revenue streams like sponsorships and collaborations, which helped bring in some extra capital over time.
The key for us was starting small and being strategic with our spending. Instead of rushing to get everything perfect right away, we focused on building a solid foundation and growing organically. That mindset allowed us to gradually expand without taking on unnecessary debt or losing the essence of what *Anything Goez* is about. By taking our time and working with what we had, we’ve been able to build a brand that’s true to our vision and values.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A big lesson we had to unlearn was the idea that everything had to be perfect before launching *Anything Goez*. At the beginning, we thought that every detail had to be flawless—the perfect sound quality, perfect social media strategy, and the perfect designs for our apparel. We spent a lot of time planning, tweaking, and overthinking things because we were worried that if it wasn’t “just right,” people wouldn’t take us seriously.
But then we realized that the magic of what we were doing came from the rawness of it—the imperfections, the realness of our conversations, the unfiltered energy. By trying to make it “perfect,” we were losing that authentic vibe that made *Anything Goez* what it is.
So, we had to unlearn the idea that everything needed to be polished from the start. We learned to embrace the imperfections and just put ourselves out there. Once we stopped stressing over every little thing and just went for it, we started to see real growth. The audience connected more with the realness of it all, and we learned that it’s better to start and improve as you go rather than waiting for perfection that may never come.
Now, we focus on progress over perfection. It’s about being consistent and letting things evolve naturally. That’s been one of the most valuable lessons for us.
