We were lucky to catch up with Anya Kalia recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anya, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

I’ve always had a strong desire to be an actor from a very young age. In elementary school, I remember wanting to have almost every single job that existed. As I grew older, I lost passion for many occupations, except being an actor. Being in the film and TV industry really intrigued me. During the very beginning of quarantine, I had a moment of doubt. As soon as I started thinking that, my whole social media was filled with videos that would encourage people to pursue acting and I would see videos of how people were getting started in the industry. The more and more videos I saw like that, the more my interest for the art grew. Thus, my love for acting multiplied and I had now obtained the knowledge of how to get started and I was pumped. Around my freshman year of high school, this is when I started to take it seriously and took steps to become an actor professionally.

Anya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My first attraction to acting stemmed from the fact that I was fascinated by the ability that one can play a range of different types of characters. I believe by playing a character, I can embark on a new journey of discovery by learning new things. I love to challenge myself and I am eager to embrace every role that comes my way. I am super grateful that I have had the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in the acting industry. My dream is to continue pursuing being an actor! It is always enjoyable watching old self-tapes and seeing my improvement.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being an actor is booking a role! In this industry, there is a lot of rejection that occurs. So, it is always a nice feeling to get accepted to a role. Even if one does not get the job, all that matters is that they tried their hardest and had fun along the way! Getting a role can be a long process, such as having to memorize lines, audition, and much more. It is all a part of the process and I really enjoy every bit of it. It is not just about the final destination, but rather the actual journey as well!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Throughout the entire journey of acting, having fun is what I strive for! Acting is something that I genuinely love doing and would like to do forever. I wanted to become an actor as it is something I wholeheartedly enjoy, so I want to continue having the best time I can during the whole process. Additionally, I want to learn new things and meet incredible people who also like being creative! In the acting industry, there are so many new things to learn that are exciting! I will always remain thankful for everything.
