We were lucky to catch up with Anya Farmer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anya, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I remember one morning this September when I had a tough week — deadlines were missed, money was tight, and everything just felt harder than usual. After getting my kids off to school, I sat down with a cup of coffee, and for a second, I thought: “wouldn’t it be easier if I just had a regular job?”
I imagined it — a 9-to-5, a steady paycheck, someone else making the hard decisions. For a moment, the idea of following someone else’s plan seemed like such a relief. Being the sole provider for my three kids can feel overwhelming, and the weight of that responsibility hits hard some days. The idea of safety, of something predictable, made me think twice. Wouldn’t a regular job make life less stressful?
But then, something inside me snapped back. Is that really what I want? I know myself too well. I’m building this business from the ground up. It’s not just a job — it’s a part of me. The challenges, the chaos, even the failures — they’ve shaped me. With every decision, every struggle, I’ve learned something new. I’ve learned that my strength doesn’t come from playing it safe — it comes from pushing myself, from stepping outside my comfort zone, and from knowing that I’m in control of my own path.
Owning a business might not be the “safe” choice, but it gives me something far more valuable than just money: time. Time to be present for my kids. I’m doing my very best to be there for every game, every school drop-off and pick-up. I don’t have to ask for permission to live my life. My business gives me the gift of being fully involved in my kids’ lives, and that’s something no paycheck could ever replace.
And when I think about that — about having the freedom to live on my terms, to create, to grow, and to be fully present for my kids — the idea of a regular job just fades away. It’s not who I am. Yes, I have my doubts. It a vulnerable moment for me, but yes, sometimes I question if I’m doing the right thing. But I also know that the life I’m building, despite the challenges, is exactly the life I’m meant to live.
At the end of the day, I don’t want to play it safe. I want to live fully. I want to show my kids what it means to chase your dreams, to stand strong in the face of fear, and to own every step of the journey. I know that with this business, with every risk I take, I’m creating a life that’s mine — and there’s nothing more powerful than that.

Anya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Anya Farmer, Your Media Fairy. I’m here to help people take the stress out of creating video content and show them that it doesn’t have to be overwhelming or complicated to make something truly amazing. I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling, and I love helping others bring their unique stories to life in a way that feels authentic and exciting.
My journey into this business started with a love for creativity and connection. I wanted to find a way to help people express themselves and grow their brands while also balancing the craziness of being a mom of three. With Bachelor’s degree in IT, Master’s degree in Printing Design, party planning and event decorating business owner as a background experience, I know what it’s like to feel pulled in a million directions, but I’ve found that when you focus on your strengths and lean into what makes you unique, incredible things can happen.
What I offer:
I work with businesses, creators, and entrepreneurs to create video content that feels personal and impactful. From helping with strategy to creating custom videos, I love being part of the process that takes someone’s vision and turns it into something they’re proud to share.
Whether it’s brainstorming ideas, guiding someone through their content strategy, or jumping into editing, I enjoy every part of the creative journey. Lately, I’ve also been working on something new: a content editing agency for bloggers that will offer both hands-on support and tools for those who want to learn and do it themselves. It’s an exciting next step, and I can’t wait to bring it to life.
Who I help:
The people I work with often feel overwhelmed. They’re juggling so much — family, work, and trying to grow their businesses or personal brands — and adding “create amazing content” to the list can feel like too much. I get it. I’ve been there. My goal is to make it easier for them by helping with the heavy lifting and showing them how to stand out in a way that feels manageable and fun.
What makes my approach unique:
People often tell me I have a unique perspective. I think it comes from my background and the way I see the world — always looking for new angles and creative ways to solve problems. I love making people feel comfortable, even when they’re trying something new or stepping outside their comfort zones. My clients know they’re not just hiring me for my skills but for the energy and positivity I bring to every project.
Also, I used to think my Russian accent was something to hide, but I’ve learned to embrace it. It’s part of what makes me, me. I think that’s what I help my clients do too: embrace what makes them special and use it to connect with their audience in a real way.
What I’m most proud of:
I’m incredibly proud of the impact my work has had on my clients. Whether it’s helping a small business owner feel confident about their online presence or seeing a campaign we worked on together drive real results, those moments remind me why I do what I do. But what I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built — the relationships I’ve formed with people who trust me to bring their ideas to life.
And on a personal level, I’m proud to show my kids what it looks like to pursue your dreams, even when the road isn’t easy. Balancing business and family is a challenge, but it’s also what makes my journey so meaningful.
Why I do this:
At the end of the day, my work isn’t just about videos — it’s about helping people feel seen, heard, and understood. It’s about creating something that reflects who they are and what they stand for. I love what I do because it allows me to connect with people in a meaningful way and show them that their story matters.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely. My journey is rooted in a deep desire to live fully, embrace challenges, and inspire others to do the same. I’m driven by the idea that life is short, and it’s not about how many years we have but how much life we have in our years. One of my greatest fears is looking back someday and realizing I didn’t live up to my full potential — that I didn’t embrace my talents or make the impact I know I’m capable of. That thought pushes me to keep growing, creating, and sharing every day.
Through my creative work, especially in video creation, I get to help people see themselves in a new light. It’s not just about editing videos — it’s about showing others how to do hard things while having fun along the way. I love highlighting their strongest talents, encouraging them to embrace their unique gifts, and motivating them to follow their hearts. When we approach challenges with creativity and joy, suddenly anything feels possible.
Being an entrepreneur gives me the freedom to create a legacy — not just for my kids, but for everyone I work with. I want my children to see me as someone who faced life head-on, who turned struggles into opportunities, and who helped others see their potential. At the heart of everything I do is this belief: life happens for us, not to us. Every challenge, every struggle is an opportunity to grow and share what we’ve learned to inspire others.
That’s why my mission is about more than creating videos; it’s about helping people see the beauty in their journey and empowering them to embrace their full potential. Life is an adventure, and I want to help others play it well, with courage, excitement and joy.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
For me, the best source of new clients has been word-of-mouth referrals and social media. Let me explain. I truly believe in the power of networking — real connections. When you meet someone in person, there’s an energy exchange that’s hard to replicate. I think people feel my enthusiasm and sincerity because I’m genuinely interested in their stories. Whether someone is 5 years old or 95 years old, I know I can learn something from them, and I believe every encounter happens for a reason.
My superpower is making people feel good about themselves. I love connecting with others, and I think that energy leaves a lasting impression. When my clients are happy with the work I do, they share it with others, and that personal recommendation creates a beautiful ripple effect. Word-of-mouth has been incredible for growing my business because it stems from authentic connections and trust.
I also believe that all the answers to my challenges are already in my phone book. I have the right contacts, and someone I know has a connection to someone who needs my help. It’s amazing how often I’ve reached out to someone, and through just one conversation, I’ve discovered opportunities to help someone grow their business or achieve their goals. It reminds me how important it is to nurture my network and keep those relationships strong.
Social media is another fantastic tool for reaching new clients. It’s like an extension of that energy I bring in person, but online. When I create content, I focus on sharing information from my heart and expressing my personality in a way that resonates with others. I love that social media lets me connect with people while providing value. I know I can invest more time into it, and as I look ahead to 2025, one of my top priorities is focusing on my personal page and using social media more intentionally to connect with even more people. It’s such a powerful way to spread the word about what I do and how I can help.
At the end of the day, my business grows because of the relationships I build. Whether it’s through a heartfelt conversation, a piece of content that sparks inspiration, or a recommendation from a happy client, everything comes back to the connection. And that’s what I love most about what I do.
