We were lucky to catch up with Anya Dinovich recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
Yes, very happy. No I don’t. I had a regular job for many years prior to switching to being a full time artist/creator.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been making and creating as long as I can remember.
My brand Seven Sundays Studios focuses on one-of-a-kind handmade home goods that cross the bridge between utilitarian and art. Working with wool and sheepskins I draw my inspiration from the beauty, warmth and organic nature of the materials.
My work allows me to slow down, disconnect and daydream.
It’s best described as a feeling you get to that of a lazy, slow and peaceful Sunday – a day of indulging in doing nothing, spending time with your family, slowing down relaxing and dreaming.
I truly believe there is a strong relation between our surroundings and happiness.
I hope my work brings this mood to my patrons homes where every day feels like a Sunday.
Currently I’m focusing on wall hangings and obsessing over natural dyes.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
For a me it’s not a goal, it’s more of a need – to make and create. My hope is that my art inspires people to slow down, pay more attention to our everyday surroundings and appreciate simple things in life that so often get overlooked in these crazy times we are living.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
For me it was a long journey. My advice is to stay true to yourself. A few likes from followers who truly appreciate my unique point of view to is worth a lot to me.
