We were lucky to catch up with Anwar Stokes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anwar, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission. Since I was a young child my father was into photography. He would take pictures of my brother and I and I have some of those photos until this day. The art and creative part of photography is what captured me. I began taking photos back in 2015. From there I have been working on learning every aspect of photography.
My mission is to continue to grow in photography and provide my clients with the highest quality experience possible with amazing results. I want the people I photograph to remember those moments that matter.
In regards to my podcast, which is The Veracious Podcast. I came up with the idea over a year ago after speaking with one of my friends. I am able to share my thoughts and opinions on modern day topics with a large variety of people is amazing.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Anwar I’m 43 years old and I have two beautiful daughters. They are my reason to dream the impossible. Stokes Photography CT is photography business that I own and operate. I also have a podcast called The Veracious Podcast. Podcasting and photography are some of the passions that I have. Both present challenges in their own ways and with the goal to learn more from both keeps it exciting.
In regards to Podcasting. I always try to make sure that my viewers and listeners remain engaged and part of the conversation. Their opinions are valuable 5o the conversation moving forward. Most of my focus with podcasting deals with addressing the desparitys in America and thinking of different ways to address social issues.
Regarding photography I try and separate myself from other photographers in the industry by making the moment memorable for my clients. I also want to ensure that I’m delivering amazing high quality photos to my clients. My creativey to use lighting in different shots allows me to create some memorable moments.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I would have to say the most rewarding or creative aspect of photography would be the creative process. From the time I begin to pack my equipment for the photography session until the final edit. There is a lot of things that must get done to complete the process and I enjoy all of it especially editing. I can get creative as I want to with the edits. My customers love my creativity.
The biggest reward that trumps this all is the feedback I get from my clients and how they are amazed with the results.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
That despite my ups and down I never quit. I love doing this work. The photography business like any business has inconsistencys regarding customer retention and a customer’s needs for photography services. I’m grateful for all the clients I have had in the past and the ones that return back to me yearly.
I believe deeply that I will reach my goals. The art of struggle is actually a blessing. That will one day lead me to greatness.
