Alright, Antwan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have been in the solar industry for the past few years and i’ve noticed that there was always a few objections when customers considered purchasing solar. The biggest fear was the loss of a better deal. I gave it some thought as I continued to climb in my career and ultimately decided to go into business myself and solve this problem. Made2Serve Solar was created with the business model of a solar broker. We would take the best or well known only operational companies and provide the best solution to fit the customer, fully customized for their specific needs and wants. I’m very excited that this idea came to fruition in 2022 and we’ve had really good success this year. Knowing that energy dependency in our country is at a high level of importance, we aim to give each customer the benefit of knowing they did not miss the best deal available.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Antwan Smith
Many people are struggling right now and my desire to help as many people as possible bursts out of me. It comes from a place inside me that has overcome the kinds of challenges that make grown men and women cry when they hear my stories. Making it out of the adversity I faced and leaving a small town in Youngstown, Ohio is one of my proudest achievements because it lacked the abundance of opportunities young men dream of. At the heart of who I am is a champion, a warrior, who overcomes every obstacle to be the man in front of you today. I share this not to brag, but to share who I am so you know the person that picks up the phone when you call is a real person who wants to find out if solar panels can truly help you save money. If it can’t, I’ll tell you.
As a husband and father, I have finally grown to a place where I am creating a business that I can be proud of. When homeowners go from paying $300/mo to $50/mo in electric bills, I smile, knowing the value of having an extra $250/mo to spend on groceries or diapers.
Some of my passions are connecting with customers, learning new skills, and making new friends. My greatest gift and potential is in service to others. Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
This has been the hardest part of the journey for my business. As a business owner I struggled to find funding opportunities that would help me get this opportunity off the ground. I didn’t let stop me from starting the business i knew could make a difference in my community. I started it with the little money i had in my bank account and in 3/4 months my business sales revenue jumped to 3 million.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective Strategy for growing my clientele has been Social media marketing. We live in such a digital age where not having a presence online and social proof is detrimental to your business. Retargeting marketing adds to your main demographic clientele market has been the best strategy so far.
