We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Antonio O’Field a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Antonio thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, let’s take a stroll on memory lane, back to when you were an apprentice or intern. What’s a memorable story from that time that you can share with us?
I enjoy the vision and the journey in finding what you love to workhard for. To make it something more than just a job or work. U have to enjoy the process! I gain motivation to choose this field so I can build something that mines, & also to make lots of money. I went to school, then got to my first HVAC “Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning job.
 
  
 
Antonio, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Antonio & I am in Business with Jay in doing heating and cooling in the KCMO Areas. I can’t speak for Jay but I can speak on how we are a good team in making things happen for our business. Im a chill, calm and collected person. Jay is chilled also, very Approachable, and jus an all around solid type of guy and oldskool.
We became great partners once Jay got me hired at a maintenance guy at a maintenance company name Dalmark. Once we start to get to know each other and see that we both do heating and cooling, like to work-hard, and take charge of our lives. I knew I needed a good mentor to teach me more about HVAC & anything else that I can learn to make money.
So eventually, months went by. Me and Jay always stayed busy working, Jay found jobs and I executed im putting in the work and learning what I need to become as good as Jay is. Because Jay jus know every damn thing. I needed a guy like that to be around and to create something Great.
Things was hard but we made everything Simple. We came up with the name, “KC SIMPLE HEATING & COOLING.” because we wonna keep things simple. Have the type of mindset, & confidence that job or anything that we face, we can over come it.
We know that our type of work is hard but it’s always good to have the mindset of positivity, simplicity, faith & patience in running a business. We understand that we have to learn from our mistakes, admit them and move on to the next thing.
Me and Jay want to show our customers that when they hire us to do a project. We are going to knock it out and make sure everything is properly installed and working. Warranties will be in invoice and business insurance will be always up to date so we will be ready for any kind of roadblocks .
As a HVAC Company we Have assess to many brands like Carrier, Bryant, Goodman & Lennox. Lately customers been buying lots of Goodman. Goodman is great equipment and cheaper than the other. Carrier is the highest.
In doing projects we have solved and help customers with all type of good ideas for them to do things. Like we have to place some metal duct in the middle of the floor, so the customer can get air upstairs. So we had to came up with way to run duct straight up to where they needed. And now they have 4 vents off one duct. So they can have air coming in.
We think what separates us from other company’s is that we are straight forward with what we need to do get the job done. Confident to say that we have the best prices in town.
We I’m most pound of is that we are growing each year. Last was cool but this is already pass of what we made last year. So we are very happy about that.

How did you build your audience on social media?
We built our social media audience by just putting our business on every popular platforms. Facebook, GOOGLE, Tik Tok, Nextdoor & Instagram are the main platforms that we try to post on and video tape things on. Eventually people will start recognizing your work.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The best lesson I learned is that every job is not for us. For an example, me and Jay collaborated with another HVAC Guy to help each other out with jobs. The first job he sent us to was unbelievable. First the house was in an area that wasn’t SAFE. When we went in the house it was very very dirty and nasty. Dog poop min one room, and to top it all off they needed everything new to replace the furnace they was trying to get us to work on. The furnace had nothing but rust and look like trash.
The second house ended up being a Drug house. We didn’t realize it until we actually started working in the house. The customer paid us, but he openly sold drugs while we was working there. Such a very big risk to take for us. We learned a valuable lesson on that job! Literally! Never Again.
