Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Antonio Mosby. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Antonio thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
Being an entertainer/creative is the best job in the world for me. Not only does it allow me to be expressive but it saved and saves my life daily. The art forms I dabble in allows me a path to get my emotions, stress, and all out in a positive way. Even when I’m in a rut the moment I step on stage or on set a sense of relaxation and calm comes over me. I’ve worked a regular job and it’s not for me. it isn’t me walking and living in my purpose.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
What most people don’t know or even suspect about me is I’m naturally an introvert that was a shy child growing up. I started comedy January of 2015 on a dare from a coworker, and it was at that moment I fell in love with entertainment. With in eight months I started my own comedy team TNC and did shows across several states. It was in 2019 my comedian partner Tim Meggingson told me about a class Actors Academy ran and created by Asim Amin, where he has the resident acting coach Dr. Tammi Rogers and I found another love. I like to call Film my mistress because of my love between both comedy and film. Immediately after starting the class I was casted for several stage plays before doing a background on the film Dad Gang written and directed by Na’Im Freeman. In 2021 I created my first sketch comedy show Cherch. After a successful premiere and few other projects I became a producer for Iron Crown Productions the end of 2021. Fast forward we now have a few films on Tubi, newest one being Gaslight where I was an AD and camera operator. We just wrapped up Gimmie The Loot to be released next year and a film I was the lead and AD Freak Like Me will be released this year Now I’m working on funding to produce my first feature film I wrote Second Chance. Here at Iron Crown we love to highlight and bring awareness to the black mental health but in an entertaining way to doesn’t make someone feel like we’re preaching or forcing anything. We provide opportunities, currently I run a writers room and we help produce those projects as well.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As a comedian it’s being able to bring joy to a person, allowing light or a positive emotion regardless of what they might of experienced before they saw me. As a filmmaker I enjoy evoking emotion and seeing a projection through to the end, the joy of seeing something you had as just an idea become reality.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
To show my kids that never giving up, not allowing anything or anyone to remove you off your goal. I work so other people from where I come from have more hope and someone to look at as I can do this as well. Growing up I didn’t know this was a life style for me or even something I could get into it.
