We recently connected with Antonio Bomar and have shared our conversation below.
Antonio , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’ve created 9 meaningful projects in my life that I have been proud of. Each project has a story, a theme or an explanation for the sounds and track listing. I start off with a list, an idea then a title. Building from that title I critique the instrumentation to remain relevant or parallel to the feeling or emotion in what I would like to capture in that moment. The context is a simple formula which I interpret: melodies- what people remember, chords-what people feel, rhythm- what makes people move. This meaningful in understanding what i try to capture and explain via instrumental music and sink emotions between them.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a musician, a creative artist who’s always keeping idea’s flowing and making things interesting in daily practice. I received my first piece of equipment from my older brother, which consisted of a computer with the DAW (digital audio workstation) Fruity Loops or FL studio. No direction was given, just four simple claps to make sure I was on rhythm. I had complete creative freedom in the sound, pace, which by itself was a great way of creating music. In this industry you’ll find everyone is different, be yourself and create what you want. I’ve given several tips and tricks to most of my friends who are producers and I’ve received feedback as well. The importance of synergy between producers is the most essential part of the process creating and developing your own craft.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe there should be more creative spaces for people to share their ideas and be allowed to collaborate with their peers. Whether it’s a library or rental office space. All equipment such as computers, iPads ect. I know some individuals with no access to these devices/equipment or places that are quiet enough to let their thoughts flourish. Although we do have social media and other tools that can assist, a set establishment in my opinion would be a great place to start.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is to share your passion with others and inspire others to do what they want to do. To make something out of nothing and get support from friends and family is heartwarming, there’s no better feeling. When you have a finished project and you know the determination and dedication you put into the process, it’s definitely rewarding. Always remember to have a plan, have structure and most importantly have fun!
