Alright, Antonio thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
No Parking Studios was formed and inspired by North Tulsa. Myself , along with NOPS and some key people in Tulsa have been giving our community a new identity for over 10 years
Antonio, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Antonio Andrews . I’m the creative director and founder of No Parking Studios. A visual and audio design company that was founded in 2016.
Our goal is to tell the story of our community through various mediums such as music, art , and film.
We’ve worked with brands like Hennessy , The Grammy Museum and Miami Art Basel.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn was what I thought a leader or business owner is.
When I started in the visual side of art I remember being a green artist and jus thinking everyone would love and buy my work because that was the narrative.
I quickly learned that to be a full time artist , I do a lot of things that help me be successful but not necessarily painting.
I learn that volunteering is a great way to set yourself up for paid jobs down the line.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
No Parking Studios came together very organically. All of us having roots in North Tulsa , the love for art, music, retro movies and design really attracted us all together .
We didn’t know anyone in our community doing anything like we’re doing now.
Our passion for the arts is the first of its kind from North Tulsa.
