We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Antoinette Toni TKO Tone Price a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Antoinette Toni TKO Tone, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
Becoming and female artist in this generation, or wanting and trying to become anything great is a hassle. The things that women are now looked at for are mostly about exploiting and selling sex. I like to keep it authentic. I have a great sex appeal however I’m not looking forward to get any work done to enhance my body to get the attention that will put me higher in my career. So I would have to work more and harder to get heard or even seen. I’m looking to show our younger audience that it’s not about that. Just being yourself cost way more then anything else. TKO for me stands for Tiny Knock Out. I am a Jane of all trades…one stop shop and have the gift of gab.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a small town “Georgia Peach” that has always loved music and fashion since I was a little one! I credited the highly rated tv show ‘America’s Next Top Model’ for her love of all things fashion and
beauty, and ‘Making A band’ music rap show. My inspirations in music came from TLC, Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu etc. Who really got me to fall in love with the craft of music was Nikki Minaj. Transforming my poems and short stories into lyrics on to a beat took me from one person to another. It definitely had a lot to do with who I am today.
I learned how to walk in my mother’s heels at a young age and began altering
and hand stitching custom outfits by middle school. I quickly picked up hair
braiding and styling, working with both natural hair and weaves. After reach-
ing what my mother felt was a mature enough age, I was encouraged to learn
about make-up and contouring. So, that’s just what I did. It didn’t take the
artistic side of me long to discover the world of body art and tattoos. I’ve been
tatting for over 14 years now.
I am a multi-talented star that has 16 years in the fashion industry. From modeling and
slaying runways, to make-up and hairstyling to music and spitting bars at showcases. To being in and on the cover of several magazines! She has graced the pages of numerous
publications and has worked with awesome designers and photographers.
In addition, has been a featured performer on
several tracks. I have music on all platforms. Hot single ‘Playtimes Over’ is doing numbers as we speak. Down to one of my great passions – choreography! Yes, this “Georgia Peach” can
dance too! Becoming serious with my art of music for 10. I am currently working on projects with Ragz2Richez music …Showbiz Ent
I see no conclusion to my story! With my passion for fashion & natural beauty and for all
things music. There are a variety of areas for me to continue to blossom.
I am a mother of 2 beautiful and talented children and is cultivating the next
generation of music, fashion and beauty lovers. I ‘TKO Toni Tone’ will be
a force in this industry for years to come!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Wanting my kids to become more and greater then me. I push myself to show them different ways on how life works and how not to feel defeated. Nothing and no one can defeat you if you don’t let them.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
With how things are you really have to show people better then telling. Old rule action speaks louder then words is in full effect now. People from all ages and race look at artist. Actors… actresses and reality TV shows as a lession to learn. Showing that we as women don’t have to be like the next is what’s most rewarding to me. Rebuilding the young minds to become better then is all I want.
