Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Antionette Barrett . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Antionette , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?

My village is unmatched. They keep me in the know with everything I need to expand my dance brand. My partner Zuri, has been my biggest influence. She has kept my name in rooms I would never imagined. She tags me in post related to dance, she Is always sending me seminars or opportunities to grow and learn.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’ve been dancing all my life but didn’t start taking it seriously until around 2008 in college. I had joined a team of other students and we would perform at thee talent shows and create videos. That sparked my love of dance all over again. From there when I returned home to Louisville KY I taught at various studios until I landed home at WaterWorks Dance Theater in 2017. I taught there until they closed in 2021 due to the pandemic. I now teach hip hop classes at Crestview studios and I’m forever grateful for the opportunities this job has given me

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

That I can constantly keep learning and growing. There’s no limit to what people can do if they are open to it

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Most of my following started on Facebook from me doing random pop up dance classes. Those same people follow me on Instagram and other social media platforms. Instagram is where I’ve seen my engagement improve. You have to make sure are responding to comments, commenting and sharing other creatives videos. It’s all about support and collaboration. My motto with my village is “If one win…we all win”
