We recently connected with Antionett Beck-Doss and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Antionett, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Absolutely I am happier being a business owner. In the beginning I did think about going back to my 9-5. It was very difficult wearing all the hats and being accessible to my clients. However I knew that wasn’t my plan or purpose working a 9-5.
Being a business owner often provides a greater degree of autonomy and control over your work. You have the freedom to make decisions, set your own schedule, and shape the direction of your business. This level of independence can be rewarding i value my entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to create something on my own.
Running a business can come with a significant amount of responsibility and stress. As a business owner, i have to manage various aspects of the business, such as finances, operations, marketing, and personnel. The pressure to succeed and overcome challenges can be demanding.
Work-Life Balance is not easy, especially in the beginning of business. It may involve long working hours and a blurring of boundaries between personal and professional life. In some cases, having a regular job may provide a more structured work schedule and better work-life balance. However being a Entrepreneur is very rewarding and I wouldn’t go back or change anything.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I started my business, I literally took my last paycheck from my 9-5 which was $1200 and started my business. I prayed about it and just took a major leap of faith. It was one of the most uncomfortable feelings I ever had. Today when I look back I am so grateful and humble that I took the risk .

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Absolutely, so previously to becoming a Business Owner I was a Nurse(LPN). Working in and through Covid was very stressful and heartbreaking. I could not take it anymore, so I decided to my business. I’ve always been good with numbers, and caring for others. So I wanted to change lives in a different way. In which is why I became a Business Coach/Consultant.
