Antinese, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Yes I’m happier as a business owner. The freedom of being a business owner gives me the ability to live the life of my dreams. Being a business owner has its ups and downs however, I can’t see myself doing anything else.
Antinese, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Before getting into the industry I wanted to be a nurse. After being kicked out of nursing school my last semester, I didn’t know where I was going to go in life. However, I found the love for makeup which led me to esthetician school. While in esthetician school I didn’t learn much about makeup but we begin to learn about disorders and diseases of the skin. With my nursing background these topics interest me a lot and that put a fire in me.
As a license esthetician I specialize in corrective skincare for ethnic skin types. I feel this is very important because there aren’t a lot of estheticians that specialize in this field.
One of the things that I am most proud about is my resilience. Even after being kicked out the nursing program I didn’t let that stop me. This lead me to becoming a five star seven figure spa owner.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In march of 2020 when covid first became serious and spas were shut down I began to educate my clients on at home skin care protocols. This allowed for my business to continue to thrive and go to another level.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Education! I have learned that education is really the key. By teaching my clients about their skin, what products they should use, healthy regimes, it has allowed my clients to trust me and also know that I am knowledgeable.
