We recently connected with Anthony Zuber and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
So far in my life, I have taken many risks. Some have paid off, while others have taught me invaluable lessons. One of the more recent risks I took was creating Point Electric LLC. Before this, I ran a subcontracting business for three years. That was my first business, but ultimately, it didn’t work out, leaving me with $100,000 in business debt. I returned to work as a W-2 employee in a management position to pay off the debt, which took me one and a half years. That period was incredibly stressful.
In 2023, I finally paid off the debt, and it felt like a massive weight was lifted off my shoulders. About a month later, I had managed to save a few thousand dollars, which was a great feeling. However, I felt the urge to start a new business and apply the lessons I had learned. Using the savings I had accumulated, I started Point Electric LLC, knowing it was a risk that could cost me the financial security and peace of mind I had only just regained.
Two months after launching Point Electric LLC, I faced a pivotal decision: Do I risk it all for the potential of something bugger or keep the safety of my high-paying W-2 job with excellent benefits. With only one week of work scheduled for my new business, I decided to take the leap and quit my W-2 job.
Both of these risks have paid off significantly over the past two years, bringing great success to me and my team. And this is just the beginning!

Anthony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Anthony Zuber, and I’m the founder and CEO of Point Electric LLC, based in the Raleigh, NC area. Originally from New York, I moved here in 2016 to pursue my dream of entrepreneurship. After dropping out of college, I earned my electrical license and set out to build a business that would truly make a difference.
At Point Electric LLC, we specialize in both residential and commercial electrical services, including electrical upgrades, repairs, EV charging, Tesla Powerwall and PowerShare installations, and much more. What sets us apart is our commitment to providing honest, reliable service and using cutting-edge technology to ensure a seamless experience for our customers.
I started this company because I saw a gap in the industry with too many unreliable and substandard contractors. We solve this problem by offering trustworthy, safe, and high-quality solutions, giving our customers peace of mind knowing they have a reliable electrician on their side.
Beyond serving our customers, we’re passionate about strengthening our community. We’re especially proud of our donation and installation of a free AED machine that is accessible to the community. These moments, along with the trust we’ve built with our customers, are what I’m most proud of.
Point Electric LLC is just getting started, and I’m excited about what the future holds. Our mission remains focused on growth, continuous improvement, and making a positive impact on both our customers and our community.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I will ALWAYS believe the most effective strategy for growing your clientele will be providing exceptional service. I firmly believe that the best way to grow a company is by ensuring that your customers feel valued and taken care of. We focus 90% of our efforts on delivering the best service to the customers we already have, making them so satisfied that they feel compelled to refer us to others. Instead of spending excessive energy and resources on acquiring new customers, we prioritize doing the right thing for our existing ones. In the end, great service speaks for itself, and doing the right thing will always pay off.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding a business can be a major roadblock, and I understand how challenging it can be. When I started Point Electric LLC, I began with just a few thousand dollars I had saved up from my W-2 job. My first step was to form an LLC and use the remaining funds to purchase basic equipment. I also took out a loan for our first company vehicle so I didn’t have to show up to customers houses in my wife’s SUV.
For the first few months, I continued working my day job while servicing customers for Point Electric LLC in the evenings and weekends. I reinvested any profits back into the business to help it grow until it became self-sustaining. A key part of this process was managing cash flow and margins. I learned that sometimes you have to start small, especially when cash is limited, and avoid taking on too much debt or selling ownership in your company. The focus was on steady, sustainable growth, and that approach ultimately paid off.
