Anthony, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
I came up with the concept of my little cartoon ‘Ordinary People’ while walking my dog during the pandemic. I was watching Action League Now! on my walk and thought it would be cool to create something like this. So I broke it down and I came up with the brilliant idea of pursuing something like that on my own. Little by little I made the necessary steps in completion of this project. Initially, I thought this project was going to be easy and only take 2 weeks. Little did I know all of the little details that went into a project like this, leading it to be complete in almost a 2 year span of time. There would be things i could do no problem but then there was skills that I didn’t have myself, so I would teach myself how to write a script and forced myself to write a page at least a day after work before I went to bed. 22 Pages later, it was finished. Then I had to find the appropriate talent for this project and I utilized my resources from working with stand-up comedians throughout the years and incorporate them into my script, give this project some humor and personality and hopefully bringing this thing to a long lasting creative lifespan.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a film-maker, producer & musician based out of Acworth, GA. I’ve been working in the entertainment industry since graduating from University of West Georgia in 2015. I’ve worked in multiple areas of the industry including The Harlem Globetrotters, two Marvel Studios TV productions, Community Relations under The Mayor of Roswell, GA.
I provide producing & editing content for live entertainment, production of Film from beginning to end & I can create music for whatever production is needed with the multiple resources & relationships I’ve formed over the years.
What I’m most proud of is the skills I have acquired and how I utilize them in the projects I do. The last project I’ve been extremely proud of is the Cartoon I’ve made ‘Ordinary People’
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I constantly shift and have to pivot. Coming from the now ever-shifting of the Film & Entertainment Industry as a whole has taken almost a complete halt on production. I’ve also had to pivot from working in Gov’t because the pay wasn’t livable. I thought I was going to have all my prayers answered when I landed an interview with the Atlanta Falcons, only to turn them down for the very same reason (“we don’t have any money”), so it’s just being resilient and working on your own thing. It’s in a weird time to be in this industry.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
Really good scam that I wish I got in on the ground floor when it first came out because it seems like everyone who was involved in a pyramid/crypto scam are far more better off than me financially. But then again, I don’t have to look over my shoulder by some lunatic because I did a rug pull before I went ghost.
