We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anthony Volz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anthony below.
Anthony, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I have always been sure of which passion I wanted to pursue in life. With that I feel gratified in my choices as an artist. I would not trade my passion for anything, and will always chase my life of artistic representation. Normal jobs have the advantage of structure and consistency, whereas freelance can lack both. Because of this I do envy those who have a set career path, but I can not give up what I love to do.
Anthony, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Anthony Volz, I have graduated from California State university Long Beach, with a bachelor degree in Illustration. I work as a freelance digital artist, with a specialty in landscape art. I provide commission based services for a variety of clientele.
Since I was young I always wanted to be an artist, and I didn’t let anything or anyone get in the way of my goals.
What gives me distinction, is my ability to create visually stunning vistas, and to use environments to tell subtle stories. These characteristics give me the largest sense of pride.
My work-flow leads me to communication and correspondence with my clients to ensure satisfaction. My main goal is create a beautiful and stunning piece of art that fulfills wishes. and brings joy to my clients.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Support for artists comes from an appreciation for arts. It would be helpful for society and for artists/creatives if more people visited museums, plays/performances, galleries. Etc.
In addition, perhaps if you feel bogged down by daily life, try creating for yourself. The more creative people in society the better it is for everyone.
For example, I have received business because of writing passion projects. Creation supports creation.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
NFTs are an interesting development, as an artist that works digitally, they peak my interest.
However I believe society lacks the infrastructure to support digital ownership. If we had systems for viewing/interacting perhaps their use would be on par with galleries or collections. But since we have no mainstream digital infrastructure to support them, I don’t believe we can properly respect their value today.
