We recently connected with Anthony Velvet Hall and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony Velvet, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
i would have to say my former place of employment influenced me the most. I had been working a 9 to 5 job in a company for 7 years. I came to work on time everyday and rarely missed a day. When the time for promotions came up, I got a really swift lesson on nepotism and favortism. People outside of our company would have the red carpet rolled out for them and be given opportunities based solely on who they knew – experience be damned. At that point, I refused to let my creative energy and potential be stifled because I hoped someone would give me an opportunity. I decided to create opportunities for myself and haven’t looked back since. It was the best decision i ever made.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am an actor. My goal is to breathe life into a character that a director or producer has given me the opportunity to bring to life. I respect my castmates and the visionaries. Most importantly, i respect the story itself. No matter what i bring to the character, I never stray too far from the story.
For any producer or director reading this, I want you to know that I am a sponge,. For all I have done, I have never stopped wanting to learn to be a better thespian. Every chance to perform is one to grow and get better at my craft. What sets me apart from others is my drive. I am goal-driven and have a focus unlike any other when it comes to achieving my goals.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Artistic freedom is the most rewarding part of it all. It gives me a chance to truly live and not just exist. The be who I am as opposed to conforming.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
“Do You” by Russell Simmons.
