We were lucky to catch up with Anthony Taitt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Anthony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
I would have never let go of those childhood passions. Those obsessions we have all had in our younger years. Mine was drawing. If I could start over I would dig deeper into that passion and work more on mindset at a much earlier stage. Lack of capital doesn’t matter. Simply dig deeper into self-development, that is what I would focus most on if I got to start over. Knowing what I know now the money will come much faster if you focus on self first and foremost.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m an Artist specializing in tattoo application, digital design & branding, and graphic design. I have been refining my skillset with artistry since a young age attending some formal education in high school as well as undergrad in technology but mostly just a raw passion and urge to understand more with art and tech. In 2018 I formed Funky3s Designs as a brand to house my works of art and I started to create for local businesses in and around Orlando. Towards the tail end of Covid I decided to take on tattooing full time and have been operating in Downtown Orlando area where I’m able to use my understanding of technical application and digital design to create great works of art that I get to apply on peoples skin! I’m so very grateful and proud to be able to share my artistic vision with others on their journey as tattooing is truly a journey that is taken with the Artist and client. My goal is to spread good vib
Have you ever had to pivot?
Like so many others covid came into my life like a freight train. The company I had been working at for almost 10 years took the opportunity at the beginning of covid to restructure the organization and trim the fat. My position was eliminated and I was all of a sudden after many years just at home with no job. During my time at the company I had started my design company Funk3ys Designs but it was not enough to sustain my family needs. I used the time stuck at home during the height of the covid outbreak to pivot away from graphic design and focus on an artform that I had always wanted to get into but didn’t have the time; Tattooing! I quickly gained knowledge and experience just tattooing my own body for understanding of how this may feel on another human but I needed more in depth knowledge. I reached out and eventually found an apprenticeship that I was able to cultivate into a thriving professional tattoo practice. Looking back I didn’t always have the understanding of being here but the desire to push forward and my dedication to journey helped me find a new lane for myself and my brand.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe the one thing absent from alot of businesses that I come across is simple customer service. Customers are people, real people that live and thrive in the local area. I simply treat them as I would want them to treat me and that seems to work out very well for me. I have a reputation to be friendly, detail oriented, and positive natured. If I was to meet a stranger along my journey to purchase something important to me I would hope to run into someone just like this because it makes me feel good going through that process if they are.
