We recently connected with Anthony Sleiman and have shared our conversation below.

Anthony, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

Against skepticism and doubts, I made the daring choice to pursue a career in night photography, with a focus on capturing the ethereal beauty of the Milky Way. Despite the prevailing notion that such a niche specialization would have limited appeal, I was determined to follow my passion. Through countless hours of practice, study, and experimentation, I honed my skills and developed a unique style that resonated with fellow night sky enthusiasts. Gradually, my work gained recognition, leading to opportunities to teach workshops and collaborate with esteemed organizations. Today, I stand proud, having taught over a hundred people and achieved media features, proving that taking risks and pursuing our true passions can lead to a fulfilling and successful journey.

Looking back at my decision, I am reminded that the doubts and criticisms I faced could have easily swayed me from pursuing my dreams. However, I am grateful for staying true to my vision. Night photography has not only become my livelihood but also a source of inspiration for others. It serves as a testament to the profound beauty that lies in taking risks and embracing our passions. Just as the stars illuminate the night sky, our willingness to step into the unknown can illuminate our path and reveal the incredible possibilities that await us.

Anthony, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am a conservation photographer from Venezuela who is passionate about nature and photography. I have dedicated my career to documenting the beauty and diversity of the Everglades and the night sky in South Florida. My photography raises awareness about the need to protect natural areas and inspires others to care about the environment. I have worked with organizations such as the Everglades National Park, The Everglades Foundation and the National Park Alliance to help protect and preserve these areas. I also have taught over 100 people in photography workshops and is currently working on a series of documentaries to bring attention to issues affecting natural areas in Florida.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

The key factor that helped build my reputation within the market was the quality of my photography work. Through consistently delivering captivating and skillfully executed images of the night sky, I established myself as a reliable and talented night photographer. This commitment to excellence resonated with both photography enthusiasts and organizations, earning their trust and appreciation, and ultimately contributing to the positive word-of-mouth that bolstered my reputation.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

To build my social media audience, I focused on creating quality content. It wasn’t just about high-resolution visuals, but also sharing compelling stories and providing value to my audience. I engaged with followers, collaborated with others in my niche, and remained consistent in my posting. My advice for those starting out is to prioritize quality content, engage with your audience, and stay consistent in your posting schedule. Remember, content is king when it comes to building a strong social media presence.
