We recently connected with Anthony Repetti and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
Reflecting on when I kicked off HomeView Media, I often wonder whether starting it sooner or later would have been more beneficial. I began my professional photography career back in 2014 shooting a wide spectrum of photography and really found my niche in architecture and real estate photography in 2019. I battle with the fact of if I had launched HomeView Media right after college, I could have had a longer runway for growing my business. However, an earlier start might have meant facing the industry with less experience and fewer connections, presenting a potentially steep learning curve and the risk of missing out on honing my skills. Conversely, had I waited longer to start my business, I might have gained more experience and a broader network, leading to a stronger and more informed beginning. But, this delay could have meant missing out on certain market conditions and opportunities that benefited my business in its early stages.
Looking back, the journey I’ve had, including the invaluable experience gained working with my dad in construction and the evolution of my career, has shaped my readiness to start and grow my business. These experiences equipped me with insights and skills crucial for my success. In hindsight, the timing of starting HomeView Media seems to have been well-aligned with my personal development, professional preparedness, and the market conditions at the time. This synergy of factors might have been instrumental in shaping the success I enjoy today.
Anthony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Anthony Repetti, and I’m a Professional Photographer and the Owner of HomeView Media, a Real Estate Media Company based in the Poconos, Pennsylvania. My journey in photography started well before college and evolved professionally after my graduation in 2014. I didn’t find my true passion in architecture and real estate photography until 2019. This interest likely stemmed from my background in construction, having worked with my dad since I was 16. I initially began by taking photos for Airbnb listings and, after photographing a house flip project my dad and I had completed, I seized the opportunity to work with a realtor, marking a significant turning point in my career. Realizing the need for a rebrand to a solely real estate media-based company, I underwent a complete rebrand in 2023.
HomeView Media specializes in capturing the essence and beauty of properties. We provide high-quality photography and media services that help realtors, homeowners, and architects showcase their properties in the best light possible. Our work not only enhances the visual appeal of these properties but also aids in their marketing and sale.
What sets me and my company apart is our deep understanding of the real estate and construction industry, combined with a keen eye for photography. This unique perspective allows us to highlight the best features of a property, understanding both its aesthetic and functional aspects. I’m most proud of how my company has grown and the positive feedback we receive from clients. They appreciate the attention to detail and the customized approach we take for each project.
At HomeView Media, we are committed to excellence and constantly improving our craft. Whether it’s learning new skills or upgrading our equipment, we strive to provide the best service possible. My long-term goal is to expand the company, bringing in new and passionate photographers, which can eventually lead to allowing me the chance to work more closely with architects and delve deeper into architectural photography. Also, as a side note, I have been an avid coffee lover since childhood, and my lifelong dream is to one day own my own café! But until then, we look forward to helping you showcase your properties in the most compelling way!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
As my side hustle eventually turned into my main business and career, I faced many different wake-up calls. My journey began while I was still working in construction, which provided a steady income and a sense of financial security. Meanwhile, photography was always my side hustle. I guess I was initially afraid to take the leap into making it my full-time job because of the uncertainty in knowing whether I’d have the constant revenue stream that construction guaranteed me. The financial uncertainties that come with leaving a stable job hit hard with significant life changes happening in my life, like moving and the birth of my first child. These personal milestones made the decision even more daunting, as I now had a family to think about.
Despite these fears, a family situation prompted me to make the decision even sooner than I had planned. This turning point arrived in November 2023, when I decided to commit to photography full-time. Looking back, it was a bold move, but it felt right. The year 2023 was a breakthrough; my business doubled, if not tripled, from the previous year. Now, as we step into 2024, this is no longer just a side hustle but my main endeavor. I am hopeful and excited about the future, aiming to maintain or even surpass the growth I achieved last year.
So, while the journey from a side hustle to a full-time career was filled with apprehension and significant decisions, it was also a path of growth and self-discovery. And now, as I focus solely on HomeView Media, I am eager to see where this journey takes me.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has consistently been through word-of-mouth and recommendations. I firmly believe that there is no substitute for the credibility and trust that come from a personal endorsement. In my experience, a satisfied client sharing their positive experience with others has a far-reaching impact that often leads to new opportunities.
While social media is undoubtedly a necessary platform for advertising in today’s digital age, it often feels like a crowded space where your message can easily get lost in the noise. People can simply scroll past your content without engaging with it. In contrast, making a personal appearance in offices and presenting myself directly in front of potential clients creates a more impactful connection. It provides an opportunity for immediate engagement and leaves no room for them to simply overlook my services, as can happen online.
This approach of personal interaction and building relationships has proven invaluable. It not only helps in gaining new clients but also in creating lasting connections that continue to grow and benefit my business over time.
