We were lucky to catch up with Anthony Papastrat recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Too often I leave the cinema, finish a show or wrap up my consumption of really any type of media and find myself wondering “when did entertainment stop being entertaining?” Perhaps it’s due to the advent of streaming and that so many projects are greenlit without even the slightest hint of a revision or constructive criticism, but all too often the general consensus is that we have more to watch than ever, but suffer paralysis not by analysis, but by lack of originality. How many times do you find yourself on Netflix or one of the other streaming platforms constantly cycling through new content only to pick a film or TV show from any pre-streaming period? My answer is more than half, heck more than 75% of the time! Whenever I make a piece of content, I always strive to make something that is entertaining and engaging first and foremost. If a story fails to capture and engage an audience, then it fails at every other goal.
Anthony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been a storyteller and avid cinephile my entire life. Now, I use my skills and storytelling abilities to create content for others. I have completed projects for clients in the form of digital deliverables such as sketch comedy, video advertisements, brand / logo creation and music videos. I love bringing people’s stories to fruition.
Have you ever had to pivot?
It’s a lesson that I feel took me too long to learn, though I’ve heard it my whole life, and that is to create your own opportunities. Now more than ever, we all have the tools to learn what we want, create it and then market it ourselves. There are very few technical issues that can’t be solved with a Youtube search. Programs have become so intricate that there’s always something new to learn or a process to help automate. Don’t sit around waiting for the phone to ring (or an email or Linkedin message to arrive). Create and market for yourself! Use your most authentic voice, but it never hurts to have another set of eyes proof your work.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
If I screenshot an NFT, does that make it a counterfeit NFT?
