We recently connected with Anthony Martinez Beven and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I created — or manifested — my own reality, and I had the “power” to change it at any time I wished. I decided to try what the power was teaching me. “Show me how to save my own life, and I’ll live my life for you,” I said out loud to God, the universe, or whatever created me. Over a period of hours, days, weeks, months and eventually years, I received medical knowledge of what was happening inside of my body. Knowledge that was inexplainable for me to have if I hadn’t gone through medical school. I had precise knowledge of cellular-level health: mitochondrial function of the cell, enzyme functionality, inflammation and oxidative stress. I utilized this knowledge, and incorporated it into a nutritional/supplement/detox protocol for myself compromised of high antioxidant, exotic fruits, specialty supplements and external body activation and flushing techniques and modalities, such as ionic detox foot baths and infrared sauna. I went back to my doctor six months after my diagnosis for blood work, and my T-cells were at 889. “What did you do?” My doctor asked. I told her, and she said, “That’s not possible.” It was possible, and I did it. In August 2017, I opened Detox Day Spa, a concept based on my own story, my own body detox protocol. I kept hearing “detox spa” from the universe, and after I opened random people would walk into my business and say things like, “You’re doing his work.” Between 2017-2022, my knowledge and my spa helped thousands of chronically sick people like myself. The COVID pandemic shut my spa down, and I retooled my business model to an online resource, store.Detoxdayspa.com. Here my clients and potential clients can self-diagnose with my symptom checker which matches their selections to detox protocols available on my online supplement store. With any purchase, clients receive my master detox guide, chronic illness/cancer guide, hormonal balance guide & more. I think what I’ve learned is to turn a downturn into an opportunity. That’s what I’ve done. I’ve turned pain into passion from the patient to provider.
Anthony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Anthony Martinez Beven. I grew up in metro Detroit. My mom is Mexican-American, and my Dad is Irish-Canadian. I have one sister, a brother-in-law and two nephews. My grandparents on my mom’s side opened the first Mexican restaurant in Oakland County, Michigan. They brought Mexican food and culture to the forefront, often facing bias and racism. My family instilled in me work ethic, integrity and passion. I’ve taken these foundational skills with me into my personal and professional life. I attended Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. I have a double BA in Sociology & Anthropology with a minor in Journalism. I started my professional career as a journalist, writing about health/wellness topics, race relations and corruption in local municipalities. I moved into corporate America in 2006 and until 2017, I held marketing and communications roles of increasing responsibilities at Fortune 500 companies. Such companies include Kelly Services, DTE Energy, Winn-Dixie Stores and Raytheon. Today, I am CEO of DetoxRx: The Chronic Illness Protocol, and principal practitioner of Detox Day Spa Nutritional Coaching. I assist mostly chronically ill patients with tools and resources to self-diagnose and aid them in becoming their own health expert. The main self-diagnostic tool I offer is my DNA swab kit/analysis, which provides a genetic roadmap to healing by identifying what genes are working, which ones aren’t working and how to fix everything utilizing key nutritional and supplement recommendations. I know many practitioners say they can get to the root cause of someone’s health issues. This tool actually does that, and they get the lab report along with my recommendations. I think I’m most proud of the transparency and honesty that I’ve established as part of my brand. My brand is my story, and it’s constantly evolving — just like me.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think often times doctors and holistic professionals forget empathy. Many have never been so sick it’s hard to get out of bed, or so depressed you want to take your own life. It’s important to put yourself in someone’s shoes and take your white coat off. Just sit with someone and connect to their energy, and feel how they feel. That’s what makes a successful practitioner, in my humble opinion.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Gosh. There are so many books: Many Lives, Many Masters, The Power, Whole Again, Why Does He Do That? The Heart of Buddha’s Teaching, The Gene Keys and so many more. I think what we fail to understand is that religion is often divisive. We fail to fully understand ourselves and our power, we forget how to live and what we are living for — a higher purpose that supports the greater good. I believe Hindi’s have figured it out — religion doesn’t exist. What we would call religion is simply their way of life.
