We recently connected with Anthony Marquez and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony , appreciate you joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I can definitely say I am happier as a business owner than I was an employee. I do get the thought of ‘should I have a regular job’ sometimes, but that mainly happens when a slow time comes in my business. But then I always remember that I can control the majority of my income by just working really hard and being consistent. So in reality, all I have to do is work a little harder during those times to get more clients and everything will be okay! Also, the benefits of being a business owner is having freedom of your schedule and also freedom of the amount of money you can make, it all boils down to you and how hard you work!

Anthony , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Ever since I was little, I’ve always had a love for cars. Back in 2016 I started selling cars at a dealership and by the end of 2019 I had decided to quit to pursue my auto detailing business.
My detailing business provides professional services such as detailed maintenance washes all the way up to paint corrections and ceramic coatings to keep our clients vehicles looking new. Our clients are often busy and don’t have the time to clean their vehicles. By providing our detailing services, we give them more time to focus on what matters most to them. The thing I’m most proud of is having clientele that have stayed with us since the beginning, as well as, being able to volunteer on this years Air Force One Detailing team. Any fun sales or marketing stories?
I had a client reach out that had found us on Google. He wanted to get his new truck ceramic coated to keep it looking new. We gave him a quote and he ended up booking. A day after he booked, he called back and said he had been referred to another company by his father in law. He ended up going with them because they were significantly less than what we quoted. We stayed professional and let the client know if they needed us in the future to give us a call. A few weeks later that same client called us and let us know that the other company had rescheduled on them 3 different times. He was fed up with having to deal with it so he ended up booking with us and getting the job done! Moral of the story, always be professional and courteous.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
The first half was from an insurance payout after having been involved in a 6 car pile up, the other half of the capital was from saving 1 year prior to starting my business. This helped fund my business and paid some of the bills during covid.
