We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anthony Joshua. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anthony below.
Alright, Anthony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing anyone has every done for me was give me an opportunity to gain experience at their agency/company. I took the clinical route in the field of Social Work which means I needed an employer who provided clinical supervision so I could gain clinical hours towards licensure. These positions are in high demand for social workers as not every agency provides supervision. So, thank you! to all of the agencies that hired me. It was a stepping stone to me starting my own practice, Mental Wealth Coaching.
Anthony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those of you who may not know me, my name is Anthony Joshua. I’m a family man, I love to travel, eat good food, and vibe. I’m also the owner of Mental Wealth Coaching where I help Founders and Entrepreneurs eliminate stress and overwhelm through evidence-based practices and metaphysics. As a Life Coach and Psychotherapist I have dedicated my life to personal growth and development. Since I was young I’ve always wondered why people do the things they do. My curiosity about human behavior resulted in me going to school for Psychology and Human Services. After 3 years of working as a Case Manager, my best friend Rochelle passed away from complications with AIDS. Rochelle was in school for Social Work at the time. I was comfortable in my role with no clear idea about my next steps, but when Rochelle died I began looking into the field of Social Work. I shortly realized that it was a very similar field to Psychology and Human Services and that was the catalyst to change for me. I was accepted to Springfield College School of Social Work where I served as the class president. I began stepping out of my comfort zone and taking opportunities head on as I knew it was necessary for me to grow. Fast forward to now, I have my own practice which is one of my greatest accomplishments to date and something I’m very proud of.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Much of the work I do involves me helping my clients make a shift in mindset. Because of this, I consume a lot of content on personal development, self-help, motivation etc. My YouTube algorithm is always suggesting new videos and I came across a gentleman by the name of Joseph Rodrigues which was life changing. He promotes entrepreneurship while encouraging his listeners to believe in themselves as he breaks down different metaphysical books and perspectives.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back I wouldn’t change a thing. Being in a field where I am able to positively impact the lives of others is gratifying to me. This is my way of giving back and helping society one person at a time. Like all things, my work comes with its challenges however I haven’t come across a problem that hasn’t been manageable.
