We recently connected with Anthony Ingle and have shared our conversation below.

Anthony, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?

My name is Tony aka Dj Afro-Nica. My name means AfroNicaraguan.My parents and most of my family are from Nicaragua. I came up with the concept of Dj Afro-Nica when I was a counselor for youths from the inner city of Miami. I would spark up a conversation with the youths and usually the question would come up where are you from? I would tell them I am originally from New York but my family is from Nicaragua. They would always think I was joking. One day I was talking to a new student and the question cam up again, where are you from? I told the student the same thing my family was from Nicaragua. I was already waiting for the response “yeah ok you joking”but this time the student response was different. He looked at me for a while with a confused look on his face and said in a serious tone” Nicaragua have Black people”? I was totally shock by his question because this was Miami a melting pot city. I tried not to look shock and told him yes they do read up on it. I went home that night and shared the story with my wife because I could not stop thinking about the student’s reaction. I was already a Dj and when I need to clear my mind I would play music. While I was doing my dj set and still thinking of the incident the idea came to me. How can I make people aware of the Afro Nicaraguan culture? Then I started at my turntables at the time and said that’s it,Djing. I would make this my way to bring the Afro Nicaraguan culture to the world through my Dj name and music.I became Dj Afro Nica that same night and have never looked back. I started a page on instagram call Nica_merican to celebrate our American and Nicaraguan heritage.The page is share and showcase Nicaraguan culture, business,news,events, etc.The comments and feed back from people when I do events or my shows let me know it was worthwhile. I believe there space for everyone to fulfill their dreams. We just have to learn to wipe ourselves off when we trip and keep it moving the best we can

Anthony, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Dj Afro-Nica and I am a Dj/entrepreneur from Miami. I am part of Fleet Worldwide Dj coalition,I have a show called the Most Interesting Dj on the internet radio station Flava 1 Radio, and I recently fulfilled a dream of mines and started my own radio station called “Total Vybz Radio”,which can be found on the Fleet Radio Network.The station is multi generation station with a variety of music and eventually talk shows. The station is new and I am working and learning everyday to become a radio owner. My goal is to help individuals have a platform to expose their brand. I want not only to have DJ’s but also talk shows, comedians,content creators, therapists. Therapy is also close to my heart because I have a degree in Marriage and Family therapy but unfortunately I do not have a license yet. My station plays music from the past, present and the future. My station is the station for the entire family. My dream and goal is have my station on Sirius XM satellite radio. I know my station would be a perfect fit for the company. I would also like to put together a group of talented individuals I know and start a weekend syndicate show for terrestrial radio stations called the “Total Vybz Allstars” I think what sets my brand apart whether it is radio or dining is I do not put myself in a box. I always try to think out the box and come up with ideas not most people would think is not possible.I grew up in the Golden era of the Hip Hop culture.This era was the most fun and most importantly creative time for the culture.I still carry that creative way of thinking and that’s what make me Interesting. That’s why my Dj tag is the Most Interesting Dj in the world.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My particular goal and mission is for my radio station Total Vybz radio to become part of the Sirius XM radio network. I know so many talented individuals with different talents that I want to give the opportunity to showcase their brands through my radio station. I know DJ’s ,Life Coaches, Therapist, comedians, Realtors, and artist. There are so many talented individuals to share with the world. My drive is would be to more to help these individuals because even though I have my dream, I love seeing others also fulfill their goals. I also love music and I want the new generation and the old generation enjoy each others music together. I am trying to also do that with my station and brand.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing something you created from scratch come to life. It is also rewarding to get inspiring and motivational comments from individuals for a goals you are trying to achieve.
