We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anthony Calhoun a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, appreciate you joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
First of all I give God all the glory and praise. What has motivated me and inspired me being a mobile fitness trainer. From doing 5 years in prison Gathering a group of men that thought it was all over but I was able to help them physically spiritually and mentally as I was released October 2019 I took the same trainings that I used in order for me to eat extra items and continue it as a business out here in society. However receiving my Ministry theology degree inside of prison allowed me not only to inspire and motivate men physically but also through the word of God. So I leave you with this ladies and gentlemen we can do all things through Christ who strengthen us Philippians 4:13 blessings
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into my industry from being taken away from society for 5 years after doing prison time in the process I received my personal training certification also my Ministry theology this is what inspired and sparked a fire in me to continue bringing my business out in society the discipline came from getting up 4:00 a.m. Monday through Friday working out Bible studies staying productive and busy continue in the work ethic that I used digging ditches loading trucks hard labor and in the midst of that having joy peace in it all fight the good fight Fitness that brand was put together by one of the inmates that had 25 years he inspired me and said take this use it keep your integrity your character and always be true and good to people continue to practice great business Acts. So I speak to you all and say my integrity means more than money cars clothes being upright up front and moving and upright integrity blessings to you all welcome to fight the good fight Fitness let’s go
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
First of all I give God all the blessings rejoice in his name what illustrates my resilience is doing 5 years in the penitentiary receiving a Ministry theology degree business office administration agree and also certified trainer degree when inspired me to continue the business is this is the way that I ate extra items training of an inmates lose weight feel great tongue up I experience inmates coming in 300 lb or more but through God’s grace I was able to help them spiritually physically and mentally I’m excited about this story because the world needs to know the journey and how I find a good fight Fitness has come about this brand was originally made by a inmate that had 25 years in the penitentiary he inspired and motivated me and told me to take the brand and use it don’t chase money you’re Integrity character means more than anything through God’s grace I believe that this is why I am so resilient. However losing my mom may 2022 losing my father June 2019 put a deep hurt inside of me but what keeps me going is the morals and ethics they always stood by put God first have faith work hard smart. And tell people the truth really like it or not you get the respect at the end whether it’s good or bad I live by that and that’s why every morning when I get up I hear that voice and it’s in my mind from my mother and father keep going you stop but don’t quit who do you think you are winning is not an option. Let’s go
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most important thing in succeeding in my field is walking in Integrity Great Character not telling people what they want to hear but tell them what they need to hear. Standing for the truth.
