We were lucky to catch up with Anthlone Wade recently and have shared our conversation below.

Anthlone , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

Since the day I started working , I knew nothing but cooking. I was a chef for 10 years. My life took a turn in my early 20s when I found out I was going to be a father. Being a father was a blessing for me but I also took on the responsibility of bearing all the stress and pressure of being the best that I could be for my son. Everything was great until one day, I went to the doctor for a check up but also I noticed abnormal lump in my neck . After examination, she told me her concerns about the lump in my neck being Cancerous. This created so much fear in be because my mother had died a few years prior to cancer. I was afraid, not because of knowing I could die, but of knowing that I didn’t make enough money to make sure my son was set financially. Being overwhelmed with the pressure and the desire to make sure my son wouldn’t need anything . I decided to take part in some illegal activities which caused me to get arrested. While I was arrested, I told myself when I get out, I want to make a change in a positive way not only for myself but for my community. After being released, it was so hard to find a job. When I finally found a job with my fiancé, we both got laid off months later. When that happened, my fiancé and I spoke on starting our own business. The beauty of it all was that we both LOVED anime. That night, I asked her, “besides financials what’s stopping us from turning out business idea into a reality” and she replied “nothing”. So with $200 we started a business. It was challenging at first but here we are now grossing six figures. What makes things better, I was able to be a living testimony and example for others. I felt like God created this path for me . I am truly humbled and bless

Ultra Anime Instinctz is an anime that was founded by a couple with a passion for anime. We design anime clothing such as Jerseys, kimonos, joggers, t shirt and much more . We also create custom lenticular posters. We travel all over the United States as vendors for anime/ comic conventions as well as doing street markets . We also have an online store at www.ultraanimeinstinctz.com. Being anime nerds (also known as weebs), our goal was to sell affordable clothing for all sizes. We take pride in our work and the quality of everything we produce .

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.

I met my cofounder, Symphoni, through my cousin . The first day I met her, I got her number and asked her on a date. After that, we been bonded for life and now she is my finance and business partner

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

What helped build our reputation was just already being in the anime community but also traveling and meeting fellow weebs. Our anime knowledge was already natural because we literally watch anime everyday . Just the interaction with people helped grow our business
