We recently connected with Answai Bennett and have shared our conversation below.
Answai, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My name is Answai Bennett. The true story behind my mission is when I was growing up. My auntie Momo was a very clean person and she used to make us clean. Preferably me and my sister we would have to clean the refrigerator, clean oven, clean the dishes, sweep and mop, the floor make beds. She was a neat freak, and anything that was dirty would set her off. Now that I’m in an adult I see that I have the same tendency of cleaning all the time so Cove it happened and I started seeing a lot of people getting sick and everyone was home all the time, and when I would visit my friends I would always notice just how dirty there houses was. I mean, I would see things that a lot of people didn’t see you like dust on the ceiling fans, dirt on the edges of the toilet at the time I was working as a sales person for an aviation school, and I was doing so good with sales. The owner did not like my ego ended up letting me go, which really hurt my ego because I was like I’m so good why don’t you want to keep me well long story short, I decided to open up my own business. I always knew I wanted my own business and that I was my own boss. I just didn’t know what Avenue to start with so I said let me start cleaning houses I had one house and this customer would like me to come every week I wanted to grow but I didn’t know how so I ended up getting a business model from fellow UK company. They taught me the ins and outs of business where to post where to find cleans where to find cleaners and that I can operate this business fully remote, so I started in Jacksonville day one we ended up getting three customers and they were weekly and biweekly customer, so I’m looking at now, I have a business well that was in March in 30 days we managed to increase revenue up to 35,000. I’ve always been a sales person I was living in Orlando so I’m like I feel like I can be doing more so I ended up opening up in Orlando location which has been extremely successful , so that’s my story. The one thing that sets us differently from other companies is we are a full service cleaning company so we clean carpets we clean windows I have Pressure Washer contractors I have painters we can help with the full move in move out experience. We even take trash out the property every single cleaning that we offer makes beds change linen can assist you with organizing. We stand out by doing it all so my mission really is to be in every city in Florida and clean every house. I started off remote but if you ask my customers a lot of them have met me because I’m very very involved, and if the cleaning is not good, I have a 48 hour reclaim policy. We are insured and bonded. I am living my American dream.
Answai, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My most proud accomplishments is opening up to cities in just nine months and just nine months we are in Jacksonville and all the surrounding cities including St. John’s Saint Augustine. We are in Orlando, including all the surrounding cities which is Kissimmee Wintergarden, Lake Nona Saint cloud, and now we just recently opened up Tampa, and we are also in the surrounding cities of Riverview, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater. My goal for next year is to be in Miami. We are here to help people clean. Everyone is busy working and work could be stress you come home and you do not want to clean. We do not think that you should clean. We want to help you sometimes you get dressed and you just throw clothes around and you really don’t organize your closet we want to come and clean and organize your closet. We want to color code your closet we want to sleep in mop your floors we want to clean your carpets we want to do all of the things that are a nuisance to you.
Can you talk to us about your experience with buying businesses?
So I actually bought my business from a company called Progressive 83, which is a United Kingdom company which helps business owners learn how to open and manage a business. I mean they were truly great. They taught me everything. I’ve already had a sales background, but they taught me how to fine cleaners they gave me the platform. They help me with the website my sales expertise definitely helped out a lot because I am really good at closing deals.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Last weeks one of my cleaners was sick and I had no one to go to this customers house bought a Groupon and Groupon is not really savvy with refunds so as I told you before I live in Orlando, I drove all the way up to Jacksonville to clean this customers house because I wanted to make sure that her house was clean on my two hour journey I was very upset at first but I have to go in there and cleaning and hearing how happy the customer was I can honestly say that I am truly proud of myself.
