We recently connected with Anntreece Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Anntreece, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?

Wow… where do I begin? The journey has not been easy. Especially trying to build from nothing to something. I truly believe that because I had nothing and to have what I worked so hard for taken from me twice, it opened my eyes to how easily you can be taken advantage of in the tv/film industry. I remember it like it was yesterday being on set filming my first film and it was the best seven days of my life. The feeling that you have seeing your vision come to life on camera is one of the best feelings in the world. It’s unexplainable!! And to never see it completed after you paid thousands of dollars is highway robbery. I provided all the sets, props, locations, craft services and you name it. All the film crew had to do was show up. The money I used at the time to do my first film was all the money my family and I had left after losing everything in a house fire. Though I never received a completely edited project. It was a huge lesson learned. Make sure everything is in a contract down to the completion and delivery dates. However, you can face the same exact problem again, it just comes wrapped differently. A few years later I decided to turn one of my stage plays into a tv series. Things began to take off and filming was going great. I did several fundraisers to put towards filming cost and I even had individuals donate thousands of dollars to me to help push my vision. And yet again here comes the unexpected. At the time I was so excited about my tv series unfolding and I thought I had the right person in place to make sure that the things I couldn’t see they would catch and pull my coat tail but they didn’t. Now that I sit back and think about it, they really didn’t know much about the industry themselves to know what certain film terminology meant. My trust had built up so much that I didn’t think, I would be taken advantage of to the point that it would come to a screeching halt because they had everything I worked so hard for in their possession. It was extremely devastating for me. I learned yet another hard lesson. First thing, never pay in advance for services that hasn’t been delivered, no matter how much you think you can trust a person. Secondly, stick to the contract dates and don’t go forward until the dates in the contract have been met and completed to your satisfactory with the product in your hands. And go through everything with a fine tooth comb. While reviewing footage, that’s not the time to be in awe & excited. That’s the time that you critique everything down to the last line of the credits. If your not pleased say something immediately. The good thing out of all of this it has made me a better filmmaker, director, writer, producer, and business woman.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am the Creator, Director, Writer, and Producer of B+LOCKED who was born and raised in the Stop Six area of Fort Worth, TX better known as “Funky Town!!

Having overcome many challenges and setbacks with this project, I also suffer from Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed in 2015, after temporarily losing my vision. That’s when I made a promise to God that if He would restore my vision; I would be a willing vessel to do His Will and help advance His Kingdom. This was the birth of my testimony, to begin writing life changing stage plays and films that touched the hearts of my viewers.

Originally, I had written B+LOCKED as a stage play that quickly transitioned from the stage to film during the height of the pandemic. Right on the the Historical Southside of Fort Worth, TX, I began to make my dream a reality and began production of my upcoming tv series. B+LOCKED is a suspenseful drama, surrounding a young lady named April, played by actress Lorenda King. She’s currently at war within herself and due to her cold heart, she will to shatter anyone’s hopes who tries to mend any brokenness from her past. Life itself has dragged her to hell and back. While left in darkness, she grew in darkness. Aprils strong repugnance towards God is going to shake up things in this powerful tv series!! Grab hold to your seats, because B+LOCKED is a roller coaster of truth, emotions, secrets, and pain.

I have been awarded numerous of awards for my tv Pilot worldwide in the film festival circuit in China, England, Sweden, Europe, Turkey, Dubai, France, Indonesia, India, Canada, Rome, Russia, United Kingdom, and United States . In 6 months God blew my work across the world!! On September 19, 2021 the awards began flowing in from India and things began to shift majorly. With awards pouring in nationally and internationally through Film Freeway Film Festival Circuit in the following categories:

Have you ever had to pivot?

In March of 2020, the world changed. And everyone across the world was fighting to live, survive, provide, and had to make life changing decisions. I was currently in the process of planning another stage play production and touring with it until Covid shut the world down. Theaters were closed down and event centers were not allowing full occupancy or either closed completely. And I remember having a phone conversation with two amazing individuals and I was asked “What are your goals for B+LOCKED?” and my mind went blanked!! I froze up and I sounded so unsure about what I wanted. And the words that were spoken to me after I suddenly became speechless was, “NEXT TIME YOUR GIVEN OPPORTUNITY TO TELL WHAT IT IS THAT YOUR NEEDING OR WANTING, be Confident and Know what you want because you don’t sound confident.” My mouth fell open and I totally dropped the ball. Here I was on the phone with someone who had the right connections and I blew it. But GOD!! I was blessed able to revisit the conversation with the same individual and at that moment I was bold, confident, and sure of my purpose. And here I am today ANNTREECE JONES The Writer, Creator, Director and Producer OF ANNTREECE JONES PRODUCTIONS, LLC.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

Funny question and some may not believe me but I had no capital. Just my faith & God alone. With people by my side such as my husband, my cast, and friends that I call my family who has helped me push my vision. When I say grass rooted, Anntreece Jones Productions, LLC. Is the true definition of that. It takes heart to do what we have done thus far… and sometimes that’s all you need is heart and God will do the rest.
