We recently connected with Annie Woods and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Annie, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I have been an immigrant for as long as I can remember. When I was ten years old, I traveled for the first time to the United States, and I knew that my life would happen in this country. Fast Forward almost two decades, and I found myself in the middle of a gruesome immigration process, going through a divorce. I spent over US$20,000 in lawyer fees trying to live the life I worked hard to achieve, and I was run down.

During the time of my immigration process, I had daily anxiety attacks and uncontrollable body aches, and I had to implement every single ounce of knowledge I had gained in my personal development journey not to allow the situation to get the best of me. I built a strong community, grew my wealth, regained my health, and found a safe space, grounded in the knowledge that my happiness couldn’t be contingent on where I live. I taught myself to be okay even if everything else wasn’t.

Through my journey, I was able to take those lessons and apply them to motherhood, and so, I hope that I can support other immigrants, mothers, and immigrant moms like me to become their own shelters amid uncertainty.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m an Island girl living in the mountains of the South; here, I live with my partner and our daughter, and I work day in and day out as an Enneagram and Productivity coach for immigrants, moms, and immigrant moms. I am also an aspiring author and an “Action Partner” for subject matter experts who run group programs but need to support their clients beyond their industry expertise. It might seem like a lot, but I have found a way to make it all make sense for me and for my clients.

The answer to this is, how can you do it all? I defined my own success, and I teach my clients how to do the same, so they can also be empowered to break rules and live life on their terms.

As a coach for immigrant moms and immigrant moms, I use my lived experiences and the most accurate Enneagram assessment to support my clients to move beyond self-awareness and start taking action toward life. People who feel lost about the next steps or where to even start to take charge of their lives come to me and leave with clarity, strategy, and tools they can use for years. My goal as a coach is that you will eventually not need me.

As an “Action Partner” for subject matter experts, I support industry stars in moving their customers seamlessly through their programs and offerings, whether by offering group coaching for their cohorts or individual sessions to tap into whatever roadblocks might keep them from using the provided knowledge. My clients have gone from up to 30% attrition rate to 0% in some instances.

As a writer, I provide insight into my life and many identities, hoping that my lived experience can give people a sense of community and also a window into what’s possible.

I love everything I do, and I am most proud of the sense of ease and confidence I instill in those who work with me.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

“Vulnerability means weakness.” I am the first born daughter of a literal general. The only letter my dad has ever written me opened up with the line: “Your training is this hard so that life will feel like a game.” This belief is still a core part of my family’s ethos, and unlearning it has meant learning how to be a supporter, be held in my humanity, and let people in so that I don’t have to do life on my own. Unlearning this lie about vulnerability has given me the life I’m so grateful for.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Word of mouth. I would wager that 75% of my clients know each other. I believe who they are in the world, and the massive perspective shift we create together demonstrates results that go beyond any plotted Marketing strategy I could come up with.
