We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Annie Campbell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Annie below.
Annie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
It was 2020 and it was the middle of the pandemic. I was in between jobs and had a new baby at home. It was then that I really started using art as an escape and to keep my mind busy. I’ve always been a creative person, drawing, painting and creating artwork for my kids rooms.
It was a weird transition time in my life that made me really think about what I wanted to do with my life. The timing was right for me to finally give it a go.
I had the background and means to put together a brand and small business plan. With a lot encouragement from family, friends and former colleagues I took the leap and never looked back.

Annie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Art has always been apart of life, even as a small child. So much so that I decided to get my degree in Art. I received my BFA from Lindenwood University in 2009.
I spent many years working with very talented artists IN LOCAL GALLERIES and it took me several years, several jobs and two children to come back to what I love. . . art.
I am inspired by my children. When it came time to decorate their nurseries I had very specific themes and styles in mind. I had trouble finding what I wanted at the store, so I picked up my pencils and started creating one of kind artwork for their rooms. I also added pieces from other artists along the way to create a beautiful space we all enjoy being in.
Many of the illustrations and paintings were created for children’s rooms and nurseries. I believe that you are never too young to be surrounded by beautiful artwork for an affordable price.
In addition to the illustrations, I create Alcohol Ink Paintings which compliment some of my more simple designs. These pieces are versatile, modern, and make a beautiful statement in any room of your house, even your children’s rooms.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There is nothing more rewarding than someone spending their hard earned money on a piece of art that you created. No matter how big or small the purchase. Everything that I create I would hang in my own house so it is the biggest compliment when someone likes what I create.
Another aspect that is really rewarding is meeting other creatives like myself. Sharing ideas and admiring the work they create. I love hearing their story on how they got started and found their muse. I find it so fascinating

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In world where everything is made in bulk, priced low and readily available it is really hard to compete with that as an artisan.
My advice is . .
Do your research- so many things are duplicated now and copied that if you just take a second to do a little research to make SURE that person (s) is really creating it on their own. That is always something I look for when spending my money on art or a craft.
Not all art is expensive- . If you find an artist that you really like, look them up. Chances are they have a print or something in line with your budget and is worth the purchase if it makes you happy.
Shop Local- most local boutiques have items made by artists that live right in your neighborhood. A good place to start.
