We recently connected with AnnElyse Nichols and have shared our conversation below.
AnnElyse, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Before opening Skin Deep Esthetics, I worked in several studios and spas—each one run differently. At the time, I didn’t realize how much those experiences would shape me, but looking back, they played a huge role in forming the mission I carry today.
Some places were fast-paced and numbers-driven. Others lacked support or heart. I often felt like I was just going through the motions. But through it all, I realized something important: I cared deeply about more than just giving a good facial. I wanted people to feel comfortable, safe, and like they truly belonged.
Those jobs taught me what kind of esthetician the industry needs—and the kind of person I wanted to be. More importantly, they showed me the type of environment I needed to create: one rooted in connection, where clients feel heard, respected, and cared for.
When I opened Skin Deep Esthetics, it wasn’t just about starting a business. It was about creating the space I had always dreamed of working in—and the space my clients didn’t know they needed until they walked through the door.
My mission is to help clients reach their skincare goals, yes—but also to be someone in their corner. Skincare is personal. You’re touching faces, hearing insecurities, and holding space for vulnerability. That takes more than skill—it takes soul.
I’m passionate about products, results, and growth, but what drives me most is building real relationships. I want every person who visits Skin Deep to feel seen, loved, and understood. That’s the kind of esthetician I’ve become—and exactly why Skin Deep exists.

AnnElyse, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m AnnElyse Nichols, the owner and licensed esthetician behind Skin Deep Esthetics in Columbus, Mississippi. My journey into skincare started with a love for beauty and wellness, but it quickly turned into something deeper—wanting to help people feel truly confident, seen, and cared for.
Before opening Skin Deep, I worked in several studios and spas—each with its own approach. Those experiences helped me discover what kind of esthetician I wanted to be and the kind of space I needed to create: one where people feel welcomed, respected, and supported. I realized it wasn’t just about giving a great facial—it was about making people feel something.
At Skin Deep Esthetics, I offer customized facials, chemical peels, spray tanning with MineTan, and Procell Microchanneling—a cutting-edge treatment that helps improve texture, tone, and scarring. I also offer curated homecare using Green Envee, a clean, plant-based skincare line that supports long-term skin health.
What sets Skin Deep apart is the intention behind everything I do. I don’t rush through services or take a one-size-fits-all approach. Every client is treated with care, listened to, and supported both in and out of the treatment room. I’m here to help you reach your skincare goals—but I also want you to feel like you have someone in your corner.
The relationships I’ve built and the trust my clients give me mean everything. I’m proud to create a space that’s not just about skin—it’s about connection, confidence, and care.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media has been all about showing up as my authentic self—consistently and intentionally. I’ve never tried to be someone I’m not, and I truly believe that’s what has helped me connect with the amazing clients and followers I have today. People are naturally drawn to realness. When you let your personality shine through, the right people will find you and more importantly, they’ll feel connected to you.
I don’t just post to post I share things that reflect who I am, what I do, and why I do it. Whether it’s behind-the-scenes glimpses of the studio, skincare tips, results from treatments, or just little pieces of my day-to-day life, everything I put out is done with purpose. I want people to see not just the services I offer, but the heart behind them.
My advice for anyone starting out: Be consistent, be intentional, and be unapologetically yourself. Don’t worry about being perfect or overly polished. Focus on showing your work, sharing your knowledge, and letting people get to know you. Social media is about connection, not just contentand when people trust you and feel like they know you, that’s when the real magic happens.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most impactful strategies for growing my clientele has hands-down been creating a Google Business profile and consistently encouraging my clients to leave honest reviews. It might seem simple, but it’s been a total game changer.
When potential clients are looking for a new esthetician or skincare studio, the first thing they usually do is Google. Having my business show up with detailed info, service photos, and, most importantly, real client feedback, helps build trust before they even walk through the door. People want to feel confident in who they’re booking with, and seeing genuine reviews from other clients goes a long way in making that decision.
I always encourage happy clients to share their experiences on Google—not just the results they got, but how they felt during their appointment, too. That personal touch helps new clients feel more connected and reassured.
Beyond that, word of mouth has been huge. When you pour love, intention, and quality into every service, people naturally want to talk about it. Clients referring friends, family, and even strangers has been one of the biggest blessings in building Skin Deep Esthetics.
At the end of the day, it’s about showing up consistently, delivering amazing service, and letting your work and your clients speak for you. Those real connections and honest experiences are what truly grow a loyal clientele.
