We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Annelise Moore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Annelise below.
Hi Annelise, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by sharing your thoughts about the pros and cons of family businesses
I’ve been working with my parents for several years now, something I didn’t really imagine I’d choose. Growing up, and even after college, I had plans to go elsewhere. But life shifted, and so did I. What started as a surprise detour has become one of the most meaningful and shaping parts of my life. Working with family isn’t always easy. Boundaries get blurry, and communication can feel like trying to solve a puzzle that changes shape, demanding more patience than I sometimes think I have. But here’s the thing: I’m learning. Every single day. And I’ve come to realize growth sometimes hides out in those uncomfortable spaces. My parents haven’t just been bosses, they’ve been teachers in how to listen, how to lead, and how to stay soft in hard moments. I’m still figuring it out. I’ve made mistakes, but I’m also learning how to show up and how to navigate tough conversations with care. Even as life moves forward, we keep finding ways to create together. It’s not perfect, and it’s definitely not always easy but it’s been rich, full of lessons, and unexpectedly beautiful. And I’m learning that sometimes the most transformative paths are the ones I didn’t plan.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My career began with photography, not film. I loved being behind the camera, quietly observing how people live, solve problems, and how the world moves around them. Curious about what shapes people and their choices, I often found that learning about others taught me about myself. Photography became a way to deepen my understanding of the world, presence, patience, and attention. I was drawn to the stillness of observing, the practice of listening, and capturing moments. This led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, an amazing school that helped shape me creatively, alongside inspiring classmates who continue to motivate me.
I spent time at BBC America and at Maine Media Workshops in Maine. Both experiences shaped the way I see and tell stories. And then I joined the family business: Bonnemaison, Inc.
Today, I work with an incredible team of creatives, some local, some remote, and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without them. My parents are my bosses, which comes with its own rhythm, challenges, and unexpected gifts. Over time, we’ve all built a team that I’m so proud to be a part of.
Bonnemaison, Inc. is a full-service production company that creates exceptional visual solutions. Our mission is to bring people’s stories to life with vision and inspiration. From national TV spots and short films to documentaries, livestreams, and branded content, we offer everything from script development and casting to filming, editing, motion graphics, voice-over, and more.
What sets us apart is our intentional approach to storytelling. We’re a lean, collaborative team that values partnership. Sometimes clients come to us without a clear vision, and we help guide them, making the process easier and fun! Whether international or local, scouting a location, writing a script, or building out an animation, we approach each step with care. We work closely with our clients to shape their message and bring their vision to life without losing the heart of the story.
I’m grateful to collaborate with talented creatives, including voice artist Brooks Moore (of How It’s Made), who is a valued part of our team. While we’ve received recognition for projects, what continues to matter most to me is helping people tell stories, stories they’re proud to share.
For anyone discovering Bonnemaison, I hope they feel that it’s more than just a production company. It’s a group of people who care deeply about craft, connection, and making something that lasts. And how grateful I am to work with an incredible team and really cool clients.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Sometimes clients can be tough to work with, and those moments always teach me something new! I’ve really learned it’s not about doing everything solo. There was one client I really needed help with, and my teammates jumped in ASAP. They’re always there for me, and I never feel alone. That experience reminded me it’s okay to ask for help. Getting the team involved made working with the client easier and helped us come up with better solutions together. Now, I remind myself all the time that it’s great to ask for help and lean on others.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
For me and at Bonnemaison, Inc., the best source of new clients has consistently been word of mouth. One of our main focuses is nourishing the relationships we have with existing clients by providing open communication. This approach not only builds trust and loyalty but also leads to referrals and recommendations, bringing in new clients who already feel confident in our work even before their first interaction.
