Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anne Shackelford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Anne, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

“My previous prejudice against the photinia intensifies my current admiration for this resilient and beautiful plant. Fact is, although natural beauty is certainly desirable, beauty that is hard won is even more impressive. It is for this reason, I believe, that our fascination with the butterfly is universal and enduring. The butterfly’s story has been told over and over again. All school children are familiar with the phenomenon of its life cycle: how it transforms itself from a not-too-attractive worm into that graceful, jewel-in-flight we know as the butterfly. An even more potent fact about the life of the butterfly, however, is its need to struggle out of the chrysalis in order to fly. For in this struggle to shed its protective covering the creature gains its strength to fly and survive. Indeed, if one were to try and do its hard work and crack open that shell to release it, the butterfly would never be able to fly.
And so it is with human creatures. There are lessons of survival that no one else can learn for us; we must build our own muscles in order to fit ourselves for life”.

I chose “Chrysalis” because of this story and how it embodies all that I offer from body transformation through yoga and meditation to transformation into beauty and the appreciation of it.

Anne, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Let our action be the result of undisturbed harmonization of natural elements. The artwork I create is a result of my inner state, the harmonized energy of five elements.

For me, I must create. It is incredibly powerful for me in my own healing work, to design pieces that mesmerize and uplift me. In turn, I pray my artwork may bring joy, inspiration and healing to whomever views it.

High vibrational artwork holds the healing intentions imparted by the artist. The energy work done on it, during or after the process, imbues the piece with high vibrations and has a profound effect due to the conscious design that surrounds it.

The higher the frequency of your vibration, the lighter you feel in your physical, emotional, and mental bodies. You experience greater personal power, clarity, peace, love, and joy.

Using crystals, sacred geometry, mandalas, palo santo, sage, incense, sound and prayer I infuse my art with positive vibes.

The most meaningful projects are the ones I am doing now. I crave it. I love love love creating. The pieces I am making now are full of so much love and created in harmony with high vibrations & healing intentions. I have been on my own healing journey for over ten years now. Working with crystals, sacred geometry, mandalas, palo santo, sage, incense, sound and prayer I infuse my art with positive vibes. The same vibes that have brought me to this very place of inspiration, balance and joy!

I have the freedom to do whatever I want. I am creating for me, and that is the most liberating action I can take for myself!

My heart wants so much to unite us with the beauty and joy inside each and every one of us. I pray my artwork can raise our vibrations, uplift our hearts and bring us harmony.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I am actually in the middle of big exciting changes! I have been a hairstylist for almost 24 years and while I do want to continue to do hair, I am taking steps to cut back dramatically so I may have the time I need for my spiritual practice, my art and my family. Life is short and it flies by. I want to enjoy all that I can and do all I can to lift us all into joy, love, positivity and peace.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
