We were lucky to catch up with Anne Marie Richards recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anne Marie, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Being a sensitive person is something that I have always struggled with until I reframed what it meant and what I could do with that “superpower” for the people in our community that need our help.
I have always cared so much about everyone and everything, but I didn’t know how to make that my career until I began working at Family Service.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Prior to working at Family Service as the Community Relations and Development Manager I worked at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for 14 years focusing on what matters most to families while they are going through a difficult time with their child and learning how we could improve their experience. Since I have been at Family Service, I brought that knowledge with me and try to implement that consistently across our network.
Our organization cares for the most vulnerable populations of individuals in need of mental health counseling, drug and alcohol treatment, crisis and case management, parenting skills and/or combatting homelessness. I have the opportunity to raise awareness, develop partnerships and be an advocate every day for our clients.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Lived experience!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being authentic, genuine and passionate about the cause!
