We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anne Caroline Silva. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anne Caroline below.
Anne Caroline, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
My journey in the USA started eight years ago when I went on vacation to San Diego and decided to look for lymphatic drainage professional. That’s when I first realized that this procedure was not very common here, so much so that I couldn’t find one professional that did lymphatic drainage. This caught my attention, and I thought about it for a long time. So, I returned to Brazil with a new perspective and vision. This was a turning point in my life, as it helped me decide to quit my successful career and dive into a new adventure.
Leaving everything I had achieved over the years in Brazil and moving to San Diego was a huge step. For an immigrant to start something from scratch in a foregain country requires taking numerous risks because you don’t have the same Educational and financial support as a citizen. Besides that, I have to adapt to a new culture, learn a new language, and move forward without a support system.
Anne Caroline, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
From a very young age, I was naturally inclined to help and care for people, and my mother became the biggest inspiration on my journey. When I was little I wanted to be a doctor – a “heart doctor”, but it wasn’t possible and then I discovered other gifts besides the ones I have today, because I had a very sharp creativity. But it wasn’t until a certain age that I decided to dedicate myself to what I really loved, which was somehow helping and taking care of people.
So Thirteen years ago, I became a Graduated Integrative Esthetician in Brazil, Post-Graduated in Post-Surgery treatments, and a Holistic Health Practitioner, and I continued becoming a Reiki Master. I am also Licensed as Oriental Medicine Therapist in the US and Certified in Europe and Asia. I am a Specialist in Lymphatic System treatments of système lymphatique by Université libre de Bruxelles.
All my studies enable me to develop my signature – the Sculpting Detox Massage, which in addition to bringing countless health benefits – I help my clients to see their natural beauty, encouraging self-healing, mental balancing and spiritual health, helping transform and bringing self-confidence so you can radiate your inner light.
I believe in the power of touch – healing through natural and healthy alternatives; so I offer a natural and holistic approach to Western medicine. A different vision through massage, in which clients feel in their first session and throughout the days, their body changes in several aspects and that makes me able to feel and deeply understand the needs of my clients.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?
Study and a lot of hard work. As I mentioned earlier, as an immigrant, we don’t have much support from the government, especially in financial matters. Up your Body SPA -was founded in 2008, and my SPA opened in 2020 – right after COVID – in DEL MAR. During this period, my work was intense, and with my own resources, I could give this huge step as an indenpendent finance woman; it’s so rewarding to look back today and sees where i am with my own legs and merits; I am very proud of having fought for my dream and having conquered space in the job market as a Professionbal & holistic therapist and being a reference for many professionals and also recognized in my country.
In 2020 I created my teaching method, and today I teach courses for professionals from all over the USA. I already have more than 20 certified and qualified professionals to work with MLD. I also teach my technique, the Sculpting Detox massage, which came to change the world of massage and bring a new perspective to the client and the therapist. I guide professionals in the same field on how to become an excellent therapist and teach the genuine way to apply lymphatic drainage.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Love and dedication, be patient with yourself, and never compare yourself to anyone, as we will always be unique in gifts, energy and ability.
