We recently connected with Annamaria Tushaj and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Annamaria, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Leaving my secure corporate job in HR Management when my son was born!
When my son was born, and there was a complication with childcare, so I had to make a very tough decision to leave my career or stay home with my son. I chose to take a leap of faith and stay home with my son, knowing that I would lose my full-time income and there would be a break in my career when or if I decided to go back. It was a huge risk for our family.
That is when I forged my own path and started getting into web design for family members in need of websites. I dabbled in it in the past and I had a ton of fun learning and navigating web building. After completing a few projects, I finally made the choice to put myself out there to the public!
A family member actually shared my page since I did a recent website for her, that got me my first client within 24 hours. The rest is history!
Annamaria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi there, my name is Annamaria! I craft timeless brands & responsive websites for industry leaders in one week.
As a website and brand designer—and a proud mom & wife—what truly sets me apart is the care and dedication I bring to every project. My clients’ success isn’t just a goal; it’s a shared journey. I thrive on collaboration and genuinely value my clients’ input because, when they succeed, so do I. My strong relationship-building skills and relentless commitment to satisfaction mean I don’t stop until my clients are completely thrilled with the results.
My journey into branding and web design began in a somewhat unconventional way. After spending years in the corporate world, I took a leap of faith when my son was born—my favorite “job” to date! It was then that I followed my heart and pursued my passion for design.
It all started with family members needing websites. I eagerly jumped in to help, and what began as a small favor turned into a deep passion. I fell in love with the process of bringing visions to life, and I knew I had found my calling.
Today, I specialize in creating beautiful, functional websites that not only streamline businesses but also drive results and increase sales. And branding? It’s my heartbeat. I adore crafting brands that reflect each business’s unique identity and resonate deeply with their audience. There’s no greater joy than seeing a client’s dream brand come to life, knowing I played a part in their success.
At LMT Design, I believe relationships matter. Your success is my top priority, and I’m here to help you every step of the way. Whether you’re rebranding, building a new website, or enhancing your online presence, let’s create something extraordinary together.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The story of how LMT DESIGN started definitely took a lot of resilience, blood, sweat, and tears. I started when my son was around six months old and I was learning multiple new platforms, while learning how to be a mom and learning how to be a business owner all while working for my family company simultaneously. There was definitely a lot on my plate and I had to learn how to balance my professional and personal life.
But also as a new mom with a little baby, I had to make time for myself too, so I wouldn’t go crazy! When I started LMT, I made a promise to myself since I did leave my very busy corporate job that had long hours, I really wanted to dedicate a lot of time to just being with my son and raising him since I know I won’t get that time back. So it’s really important to me to be able to build my clientele, projects for clients, and my business but also be a full-time mom as well so balance is key and definitely learning how to take a break which is something I really had to learn as I was used to taking on well over my capacity!
It is vital for me to be 100% for my husband and son, as well as my clients. So, giving some time to myself when needed, allows me to do that.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Absolutely. When I worked in corporate, I worked for Mat Ishbia (not directly), owner of United Wholesale Mortgage. He is one of the HARDEST working individuals I have ever met. He really embodies the pillars of his company which include being positive, holding yourself accountable, always improving and so on.
These are fantastic attributes I gained while working at his company that I not only use in my professional career but in my personal life as well. Just being able to witness him and then his leadership team also embodying those pillars was very inspiring.
During my time there I was also privileged to listen to Tony Robins and Tom Brady speak to all of the leadership team members. Im sure you can imagine how enlightening and amazing it was to hear those two speak and share their personal stories, tips and tricks of personal and professional success.
