Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Vasquez . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anna, we appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
When March of 2020 happened I lost all my scheduled clients, with the exception of 4. A lot of my staff moved out of the area or they were no longer available to pet sit. I was forced into a situation where my 7 years of hard work and sacrifice may no longer pay off. The future was completely open, should I continue with my current path or strike elsewhere? Would I retain proper staff again?
Small businesses were closing rapidly and I was in the same place if I didn’t make a decision, soon. I took the risk of keeping my company with the hopes of getting clients and proper staff at some point.
I hustled to keep my company alive by painting, cleaning, starting an additional company, running errands, anything.
Some staff that was available for hire, once clients started returning over a year later, were not completely qualified.
At another crossroads where now I have an influx of clients but not enough staff, I took another risk by cutting back. This decision was extremely difficult because it’s not what I wanted but it was necessary to provide the type of care my company was based on.
I took a risk that qualified staffing will be available at some point in the near future. Both risks paid off. The current team we have is incredible! In 11 years they have made this company even better.

Anna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m the owner of Conforta Animale, LLC, a home pet care company. We provide daily drop in visits/walks, overnight care, training and boarding.
What sets us apart from other pet care companies is our dedication and dependability. Our mission is to make your pet feel safe and comfortable in your absence. We go above and beyond to provide the individual unique care each pet requires and deserves.
Our boarding is a free roaming environment, in boarding homes. This is not a kennel facility but in a boarders personal home. Each boarding home has a different environment being social or private. Private boarding has no other dogs in the home.
Our pet care is designed specifically around your individual pet. We put together a care plan that is documented and followed in your absence.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
A good reputation in the pet care business is imperative. People are more likely to contact a pet sitter who’s received positive recommendations from family or friends, people they trust.
We adjust our care per client and provide the extras that helped build a positive reputation. The pets build a bond with our sitters because they know we are a safe place for them. That’s illustrated in their behavior.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth has provided the most of our clientele. That’s been the case because of the quality of care we provide. The best strategy to increase your clientele is do what you say you’re going to do. Deliver the service you’re promising. This creates positive dialog between people.
