We recently connected with Anna Sundquist and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Anna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Till this day, the most meaningful and overall exciting project I’ve worked on was a film we finished last year called Darko. It comes out at the end of the year, and I’m so eager for it! I’m not allowed to share too much yet, but the overall essence of the movie is focused on the beauty of friendships and how important it is to have loved ones around, even if it’s through a soul connection rather than just blood(there’s a pun intended here that you’ll get after you watch it!).
Anna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I was a teenager back home in Norway, I got the opportunity to be a part of some commercials and TV-series. Sometimes I would be an extra on set, and other times I’d have a little line here or there. I loved every minute of it, but there wasn’t even the slightest glimmer of belief that I could make acting my career. It wasn’t until I had studied in Santa Barbara for a couple years that it finally clicked and I realized there’s nothing else I want to do. I moved to LA and attended the Academy of Dramatic Arts, which was a wonderful experience, and ended up booking a few projects after graduation. It’s hard to choose just one thing I’m proud of – I think building a life and career in another country in general is something I’ll always be proud of and never take for granted. And to quickly add to that; it definitely wouldn’t be possible without my insanely talented “teammates”, such as my agent Terrece Lynn, manager Teuila King and of course, my mom. She likes to call herself my “momager”, which I strongly protest against, but.. It’s kind of true. She’s just my biggest supporter which I think builds a sense of confidence and strength in me to make me want to keep on going even when things are tough.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
To give myself and all other creatives some grace, I’ll say that it’s hugely rewarding just getting a job. It’s not easy auditioning every day and being faced with rejection 99% of the time. But when you do get the job – it’s beyond worth the wait. Most actors choose to put themselves in this position because of the passion for the craft and the importance of storytelling. This answer is going to be different for everyone, but this one is pretty easy for me. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything more fulfilling than being presented with a project that makes me feel aligned with the purpose behind it.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have always felt that motion pictures have the ability to make a profound impact, so yes, with that as a baseline, I have very clear goals for the future. For now, I’m focused on enjoying acting!
