We were lucky to catch up with Anna Scott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My heroes are definitely my parents. They are both very successful and have taught me what hard work looks like. I am so grateful to have grown up in a supportive home that always supported my music career. They never once doubted me, but they have always taught me to work harder than everyone else if I want to succeed. I owe a lot to them!

Anna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a singer songwriter with my own LLC. I started performing in Cleveland Ohio where I grew up and moved to Nashville in 2019 for college. I am a Belmont University graduate and I play at venues all over town. I love my job so much and I am excited that I am now a business owner! I am so proud of my determination over the last few years while I am paying my dues. I play for four hours straight alone almost every day of the week and it has really helped me grow as a performer and person.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I always grew up with the mindset of treating everyone with kindness. I was the “nice” girl in school growing up. This is great. However, I learned recently that “no” is a full sentence, and it’s okay to just be a good person. Being a good person doesn’t mean you have to be nice to people who have crossed boundaries or are disrespectful. Especially being a female in a male dominated industry, unlearning to be nice to every person has helped me to stay strong in my beliefs and not get taken advantage of.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I used to be so afraid of social media because I was worried that people would judge me. The minute I got over that fear and started posting consistently is where I saw growth. You have to be so vulnerable especially in music and not everyone is going to like you, so if you get over that idea, your social media presence will grow. I am so grateful that I learned that because I am not afraid to show who I really am to my fans and listeners.
