We recently connected with Anna Scott and have shared our conversation below.
Anna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
At the heart of my business the art of true self-connection is found. I am of the opinion that the way we live and express ourselves is an art form. So, the way that I interpret the above quote is in relation to life itself. And life, right now, is challenging for many of us – especially those who feel compelled to operate in the artistic or high-pressure performing arenas of any kind. We are all raised to adopt and follow a certain set of rules describing who to be and how to live, but what we are lacking (and what I urge my clients to do) is remember how to dream. And how to take the ultimate risk of creatively bringing those dreams – those works of art and innovative ideas – into reality for all to benefit from.
Every decision that goes against the grain is a risk. The key to confidently living a life of inherent value and peace based on those risks is to bravely move forward despite the shadows of the past. Moving forward, however, sometimes looks and feels like moving inward. It can feel like a pause. One of the great risks of my life – building my business from scratch – invites highly creative/performing people to join me in the pause, or as I like to call it, the space between.
It is in this space that I am able to provide emotional, mental, and spiritual support to help the people in front of me recalibrate themselves back to optimal well-being and clarity. I have the honor of connecting my clients back to their true selves and then watching them go back out into the world to perform – and take authentic risks – from a place of knowing rather than proving. From a place that feels good and helps others to FEEL that they are capable of creating their own version of that freedom, too. Emotions move people. The results that unfold are truly incredible.
I would not have the privilege of bearing witness to such profound healing in relation to the creative process, though, unless I had taken the risk of making a business based on all the elements I believe in and am trained to provide. Life and purpose are made in the grains we go against, and so, Intuitive Performance Psychology was born.
I’m here to boldly and colorfully push the needle forward to help forge a new way of being in a way that feels exciting, meaningful, and original. And if you like what you’re reading, you are too.

Anna , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a licensed therapist, certified intuitive coach, and former ‘teacher of the year’ who offers therapeutic performance healing services. I now teach how to self-emanate from crisis, support the process of self-discovery, aid in lessening the pressure that comes with high-level performing, and invite clients to express their inspired rarity freely with the world.
My therapeutic modality is a blend of holistic counseling, motivational coaching, and creative consulting. The aim is to provide each client with the much desired personal peace and professional results by way of self-connection. Together, in partnership, true confidence and possibility is co-created. Discovering the highest potential available for each person or situation is illuminated.
The energy and mission behind Intuitive Performance Psychology is one of remembrance and reconnection to the true self. From there, the pathway to influential creativity and passion can be confidently shared. When we connect to the self, we remove the wedge that deters clear decision-making and authentic flow. I organically generates a “space between” for clients to receive clarity and inspiration. The more consciously connected humans there are in positions of visibility the better our world will be. Long story long, I help people get out of their own damn way and create, speak, build, write, (etc!) what they are meant to.
What makes me specifically stand out (and this might be an unpopular opinion) is that I love a crisis. I don’t wish crisis onto people (of course) but have come to trust that spiritual purpose can always be harvested from the pain felt when we are brought to our knees. Hope can be found and the true self can finally emerge if we allow it. This deep work is what I am most proud of because I lived it myself and speak candidly about my experience with those I have the privilege of working with professionally. There is magic to be found in the shadows.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
To make peace with the fact that what you are naturally best at and enjoy the most will generate the most monetary and personally satisfying rewards. You just have to be brave enough to incorporate whatever that is (for me it’s talking with a light heart from a place of deep unconditional love) into your chosen field. It’s tricky because we are conditioned to believe that we have to do certain things or be a certain way in order to be compensated – but the truth is we just have to be ourselves and then put ourselves in a position to be SEEN and FELT from our natural state of being. We have to give ourselves permission to engage passionately and in complete devotion to our causes of choice. The rewards received at that level transcend monetary value because the impact on others who bear witness to that type of energy creates a beautiful ripple effect. The biggest indicator of success (aka living your purpose) in any field is learning how to identify and balance your inner and outer world by releasing borrowed expectations. I enjoy helping clients come up with their own process to do just that.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
At this point in the game, I care much less about what people think outside of my immediate family. If I can continue to wake up each day and continue to follow the unseen force within me to keep going, my two girls will grow up believing anything is possible. And my husband – who is in a league of his own – will continue to know how much his guidance and unwavering foundation has helped me bring something that once only lived in my head into actuality.
But to answer the question more succinctly, my reputation is based on how people feel about themselves and their very important place in the world after connecting with me. Evidently I have an incredible track record. Real inspires and attracts real.
