Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Przy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Anna, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I lived my entire life with the assumption that there was a “right” way to move through my lifetime. I had to get the degree, and the job, and then work my way up the ladder – the American Dream was drilled into me. I did everything the way I thought I should, I got the degree and I got the job, and I worked my way to the top! I was an event planner for 13 years, I had purchased a portion of the company and was a sitting board member. I thought this was going to be what the rest of my life looked like. When the pandemic derailed everything for me as an event planner in 2020 I was given time, time to be alone with myself, time to reflect on my life and it was as if somebody finally shook me and said “is this even what you want?!” And it wasn’t. I was terrified of the idea of trying a new path in my life, but I started posting online. Eventually I did go back to work when the covid restrictions were lifted, but it was like I couldn’t be put back in the box… I had been let out and I saw there was other choices. After several years of trying to manage both creating content, and running my event planning business there came a point when I could not keep living giving each part of my life half of me. There was that moment I knew there was one of these things I could not live without – and that was being a content creator, and touring the country telling my story. I left my stable career with no guarantee of any income to pursue a life as a creative – a content creator, storyteller, speaker and comedian. I still don’t always know where my next mortgage payment will come from – but I made the right choice. It is a huge risk and it was so worth it.
Anna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Anna Przy, and I am a content creator… which is still crazy for me to say! But I’m not just a content creator. I’m also a comedian, storyteller, and loud reminder of all the things I wish I had growing up.
When I started making content, my goal was simple: to remind people that they are not alone. No matter what you’re going through, someone else is going through it too. I am my own success story, and I show up online every day as proof that you don’t have to have it all figured out. You can change your mind, take up space, and reject societal pressure to keep up with the whoevers.
Since starting this journey, my community has grown to over 1.5 million cuties across my platforms. But while content creation is the catalyst, it is not the product. I take my message on tour, sharing my life story across the country—almost 30 shows in 19 states! I love the real-life connections I build online and getting to meet my community in person, whether at shows or on group trips where we support each other while exploring the world.
I don’t believe in perfection—because perfection is not a thing. I want people to show up even in the mess, even when they don’t have all the answers. And I want them to know: You are allowed to be exactly where you are, exactly as you are.
Beyond short-form content on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, I also host a daily morning show on Patreon called “5 More Minutes.” It’s a space for me and my audience to check in with ourselves and set the tone for the day.
And? I wrote a book! “Keep It Up, Cutie!”—a not-quite-self-help-book that serves as a physical reminder that you are doing just fine.
I have my toe in a lot of ponds, but at the end of the day, my mission is simple:
I just want people to know they MATTER—no action required. You are already enough.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My number one advice for anybody looking to become a content creator is pretty simple – POST! You have to start somewhere, you have to START! Nothing is EVER perfect, but by actually creating the content and putting yourself out there you will find your voice.
I found my voice and my message by floudering around on TikTok for a year, posting whatever came to my mind. Through that process I figured out what resonated, what felt authentic to me and what was making the most impact on my community. The only way to discover your style and your message is to CREATE! So don’t overthink it, just start!
The next part is consistency – something I’m not always good at. But if you continue to show up, continue to post, continue to write and produce content for social media the community you want will find you, and the algorithms will start to recognize your consistency.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Hands down, no question, it’s when I get to physically be in the room with my community, whether at a live show or on a group trip, and hear their stories. It is an honor to be the person they feel comfortable sharing with, and it’s an honor that they’ve chosen to spend their time and money to be there in that moment. I never take that for granted.
I love the energy of my community in real life. The internet is an incredible place to find belonging, but bringing it into the physical world? That is truly life changing. It’s why I knew I couldn’t stay in my job as an event planner – I needed that feeling of real community in my life.
And honestly? How lucky am I to be the one creating these safe spaces!
