We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anna McGee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anna below.
Hi Anna, thanks for joining us today. Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.
It hasn’t always been an easy road starting my own shop. I become a very young, single mom, still taking classes in college berg unexpectedly. I was in the first few weeks of my first year of college when I found out I was expecting. I never imagined being in the situation I was in, but nonetheless, I was going to do everything in my power to be the best mom I could be and work hard in everything I do. I had my daughter and quickly found myself looking for certain clothes I couldn’t find on the market. I finally decided to brush up on my sewing skills and started creating outfits for my daughter. It quickly flourished into something I never imagined. People started paying me for the clothes I made for their own kids. Now, almost 3 years later, I love doing what I do! Being able to help parents bring outfits for their kids to life and being able to see other kids wear my clothes is something I love doing. Being solely online has had some struggles but it’s been able to allow me to reach customers I never imagined I could reach. I’ve sold items in almost all the states and multiple different countries. One thing that I’ve always stayed true about, is being able to help other people who have a shop as well. If they’re just starting out or well established. We’re all in this together and being able to help others is a huge thing for me. I had a few people help me when I started, and I cherish those people to this day.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I sew handmade children’s clothes, mostly sizes newborn through size youth seven. Being able to hand craft items and being able to see people love them as much as I do is something I hold very dear to my heart. I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Being able to have my shop as well as continue with my education and full time job hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been so worth it. I tell everyone of my customers how much they mean to me, I always include handwritten letters in my packages to let them know how blessed I am for them to trust in me and buy from me.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being able to stay true to my word, show others I trust in my product, always keeping a positive attitude, and being personable.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Online! My entire store is online. I use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and my website.
