We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anna Le. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anna below.
Anna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I was born in Viet Nam and came to the United States when I was 18. Growing up in an Asia culture where most people in high education are the key to success, I have always been taught to study all the time. I spent at least 12 hours every day in high school studying. Our education system only focuses on fields that people believe are more important, such as math, physics, chemistry, or biology. We did not even have art classes in my high school. Art and creative activities were not encouraged to learn or even spend time as a hobby.
I was lucky to have an open-minded parent who allowed me to follow my path. I had time to do art and attended drawing classes that outside of school. However, I did not like what I was studying in drawing class, there were so many rules, and I was expected to draw like a computer. These experiences made me think so much about life and freedom. As a perfect life plan, people want us to go to school, get a degree, get a job, then get married and have kids. But, there are also deadlines, and people will judge if we live differently.
I tried to fit into the world, but I was very unhappy. Therefore, I decided to do it my way. So I came to United Stated and studied art. Becoming an artist brings me peace and happiness. I found my purpose in living, and what matters to me. Art teaches me how to be free and fly like a bird, how to think differently and how to make this world become a better place.

Anna , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I grew up in a happy family, surrounded by beauty in a flower town in Vietnam. From a young age, I thought the world was beautiful and heavenly. My time in this heaven isn’t a guarantee so I aim to live every day to its fullest. As a result, I try to enjoy and appreciate little things in life. My visual arts practice represents the unique ways in which I see beauty and the world around me. It is meant to stimulate visual pleasure in the viewer, while also allowing space for introspection and personal interpretation. I make art to spread positive vibes and to bring joy and hope to viewers.
I am focusing my studies in New Media, as it provides me with an opportunity to combine my interest in technology with my love of photography, painting, writing, sculpture and installation. The works are meant to entice the viewers to visualize an entirely new world that comes from the power of imagination which has no rules or structure. It brings the spectator back to their childhood where they have no limit on what they can dream of and the boredom to be creative.
My studies are currently focusing on painting and technology to emphasize the future whilst expanding upon my identity and my imagination. “Color of Love” is an example of using technology in my creative process of paintings and creating multi-disciplinary mix of media art and installation. Coding paintings in touch designer allows us to re-imaging what we know as real and what is not anymore. It invites the viewers to expand their imagination and creativity.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I only use Instagram to share my works and my life. I currently have about 12.000 followers. I started to use social media for my journeys which reminds me of my passion and goals whenever I look at them. I began to record myself working in art, enjoy life’s little things, and share what I have learned sometimes. I get more and more messages from viewers who say they love what I am doing and inspire them to follow their dreams and be more positive.
The only advice I think I could give when you start to build your social media is just being you. Sharing things that you love and make who you are. Being “a unique you” is already a beautiful thing that makes the world a better place.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
In my opinion, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is I get to choose what I want to do and only make what I believe. In other words, I have the freedom and space to witness myself grow and change every day.
